Problem with my ZX1250w 24pin cable pin holes

Hey, I have no idea how it happened as everything seemed to go on nicely with out much force at all, but one of the pins on the connectors bent in.

I checked and thankfully the pins on the motherboard connection are all perfectly fine/straight.

So since the computer isn't finished yet (still waiting on parts) do you guys think that it will be fine like that? I'm pretty sure the connection is still being made, and there is no problems plugging and unplugging the cable. God I hope it is... =/

I wouldn't risk it. If it doesn't make a secure connection you can potentially cause a short and "poof" no more computer.

ATX pins are fairly easy to replace. Simply grab a pair of paper clips, jam them on both sides of the pin, and it should extract out. Remove the pin from the wire and crimp a new one.

Well, I popped the pin out and instead of switching the pins from the wires (not sure how to go about removing the pin from the wire without ruining the pin itself lol) I decided I could probably bend it back to shape. This is what it came out like:

The pin is perfectly fine inside the connector. I used a thumb tack and insterted it into the pinout then using some pliers I fashioned it until it was pretty close. I then took the pinout and plugged it into where the pin would be on the motherboard and the connection was solid. I could feel the friction pushing the pin on and pulling it off. So I'm 100% sure the connection will be fine.

Thanks for the help. Cheers smile.gif

Definitely looking better than it was before. Doubt you'll have any issues. thumb.gif
