Battlefield 3 crashing / minimizing... Problem since release

Allright, after several failed attempts to fix this problem i am asking here in the hope that someday i'll be able to play Battlefield 3 without it crashing on me all the time rolleyes.gif

When I play multiplayer about every second round i play (it's inconsistent) the game looks like it gets minimizes and i get my desktop showing with battlelog. The Battlelog says im still playing and the game shows up in the task bar, but i am unable to restore the game to full screen, and i have to CTRL+alt+Del to get to Task Manager to close the game and restart it.

things i have tried:
Updated all drivers (ALL OF THEM)
I have tried disabling my on board audio, and also using a separate audio card
I have tried rolling back drivers
I have reinstalled Windows
I have reinstalled my graphics card drivers
I have updated my bios
I have done a Ram memory check (no problems there)
I have updated PB, uninstalled reinstalled, (intstalled manually)
I ran the game without anti virus and firewall
I have checked the Temperatures (it is definitely no temperature problem)
I have tried different browsers (Firefox / Internet Explorer / Google Chrome)
I have tried to contact the EA technical support several times (no answer *sigh*)
I have tried lowering the settings to the lowest possible, still crashing...
I have tried playing without an overclock (it is 100% stable)

What is especially odd though, is that it allways seems to be at 50% CPU load and pretty much exactly 2048 mb ram usage when it crashes!

At this point im pretty much stumped, and don't think i can really do anything else.

My system:

Intel Core i5 2500k @4.5ghz (Noctua NH-D14)
Gigabyte GTX 580 1572mb (triple fan solution)
Asus p8p67
8gb Mushkin Silverline stiletto 1333mhz
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
256gb Samsung 830 series SSD (also had the game installed on my 1tb WD Caviar Black

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is the game actually crashed or just minimized? Sometimes I have a terrible time of getting the game to go fullscreen, but It isn't stuck in the task bar it will pop up, just not go fullscreen without great hassle.

Are you running with windows Aero on/off?

I know that it is usually easier for me to get the game back into FS when Aero is ON, and also with the browser, minimized.

You say that it does this after the 2nd round, is it the 2nd/3rd time you start up the game or 3 rounds into 1 game that it minimizes by itself?

You might turn off that "Go to Game" feature in Battlelog when it is connecting, and then wait for the game to initialize, (about 700mb of ram usage on mine) and then click it in the taskbar to bring it up. My game usually auto launches at around 900mb ram usage if I leave that checked on.

Just some ideas.

I have tried both Aero on and off, it crashes basicly every second round in a session (but it's very inconsistent... it also only crashes while mid game not in the loading screen or something like that)
Yes, it is actually crashing, it is impossible to bring it back up.

I have the Go to Game feature turned off.

Thank you very much for the input! I need all the help i can get smile.gif

Noticed you added the Ram limit and CPU usage. Do you think that happens ever crash? I'm not sure if the CPU usage would have anything to do with the crash, (unless its unstable OC somewhere), but the ram "maxing" out could be the problem. Not sure what to recommend to fix it though, I guess you could try EA support forum or chat to see if they have any ideas also.

Oh trust me i have tried the Battlelog Forum biggrin.gif

I am absolutely sure that the CPU is at 50% every time it crashes, but at anything else i NEVER have this problem, the CPU is definitely stable, hell even rendering or benchmarking, converting is never a problem. I even had a 14 hour Prime 95 test running one time...
I have also checked the ram several times...

what is the stock voltage of your 580?

Try bumping the voltage up by 1 notch , don't adjust the clock speeds, leave them at stock.

Play the game and see if it still crashes.

It seems i can't adjust the voltage on the Graphics card... It is set at a stock 1000 (mV) but when i set it at 1001 the temperature is raised by 3C° for a few seconds but the Voltage is not applied, so it jumps right back to 1000...

How are you changing this, via which program?

If you can get the EVGA Eleet Tuning Utility.

You may have to register to get the download.

I am using MSI Afterburner... It should be just as capable of raising the voltage as any other program? Or am i wrong here?
