How to :: Change the Windows 7 start "orb."

Many people change the themes of Windows 7 using programs like Rainmeter etc. (and many just stick with windows default in built themes)

While this is great and can make a desktop lively and appealing, many users just leave the start "orb" as is.

First of all, what's the start "orb?" It is the button that you click to launch the start menu.

To change it is rather simple. This can add another edge to the desktop and there are some great looking orbs available on sites like Deviantart.

  • Download W7 Start button changer by clicking here. (From my uncles shared server)
  • Find the Zip file in your downloads folder and open it.
  • Open "Windows 7 start button changer v2.6.exe"
  • You will now want to click on "Restore Original Explorer Backup."

    302

This will force the system to use the default.

  • Now click "Select and change the start button."
This is where you choose your own start orb. Note that these HAVE to be bitmap files. Select the file you want and click ok.
  • Now the system restarts explorer.exe and changes the orb for you.

    Done!

To find more orbs go to sites like deviantart and search windows 7 start orbs, also just hit google.

    Mines is:

    Very simple and clean!!
