Having a hard time choosing a case upgrade.

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I was typically the guy who only cared about the components and spent minimal amount on the case but now after seeing so many amazing & clean wire jobs in the "rate my cables" thread, now I see why people spend what they do on a case...

As you can see in my sig I have a basic $40 case. It looks pretty good but has poor cable management and very flimsy metal. I have browsed newegg for hours and I'm finding it very difficult to pick one based on reviews and images. Here is what I want in a case

- Black interior
- Mid Tower Size (no full or micro)
- Bottom mounted PSU
- Cable management holes with rubber grommets
- Ability to hide ALL wires out of sight..
- Clean exterior appearance (no blue lights or gaudy designs)
- Good stiff/solid feel (no flimsiness)
- Budget of around $100 (give or take $20)

Here are a couple ones I had in mind, sorted by favorite top to bottom

Corsair Carbide Series 500R White Steel

Rosewill BLACKHAWK Gaming ATX

Corsair Graphite Series 600T

NZXT Phantom 410

Get a original Phantom, they look a lot better than the 410 imo.

The 500R is pretty nice for what it has. Of course it's above your budget too.

I would though keep the Rosewill as your 2nd choice to keep yourself under budget. Looks pretty good, has plenty of fans that come with it, and plenty of spots for cable management.

The NZXT I'd drop off your list as that thing looks terrible and is glossy black, meaning a big dust and fingerprint magnet. Never have been a fan of their case designs.

The Fractal Design that someone posted above is nice. I ordered one of their mATX cases for a computer build at work and I was impressed with the quality and look of it.

Look in the Fractal Design series for their mid towers. It has everything you want, at the exact price you want.

Plus all the cases you've selected.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146080

That nzxt case may be the cheapest you can get.

Plus all the cases you listed are good.

With this surge of good housekeeping, look into buying:

Cable ties

Velcro ties

Cable Management kits

Sleeved Cable extensions from either NZXT or Bitfenix

^Ignore the tubes as i didn't change the length when moving from my Cosmos to this And i am testing my new rad plus pump.

My Old PSU which is a CM Real Power Pro has tons of wires and they fit comfortablely behind the mobo tray. If i had to name a bad thing about this case is the fact that it only has room for 2 5.25 items.

The doors are completely sturdy and really heavy

May I suggest the Corsair 400R ?
Its a pretty nice case. Not too big and not too small. I like the ability to turn off the front white lights of the fans. Stock fans are surprisingly quiet. I have had a couple builds in it. It is a very manageable case. The HDD drive holder could have been a little stronger. But the flimsiness of the bay helps to dampen the sound produced by mechanical HDDs. Its not paper flimsy. But certainly not as strong as 800D drive holder.

My favorite part of it is the handle on top of it. I can carry it with one hand when taking it to different places. I take it almost everywhere I go. smile.gif
Cable management is very nice. It doesn't have a window though. But I kinda like the bulged out side windows, makes it look bigger than what it is.

Not totally sold but the Arc midi is surely in the running now. Thanks for the suggestion.
