Single 7970 Eyefinity GPU Usage in BF3 is CRAZY. Please help? [Pic]

So after upgrading my CPU and motherboard, and a nice clean install of windows and BF3, my frames have shot down to about 22-25 FPS on all Ultra Settings (no MSAA) whereas I was getting about 33-35 with my i7 930 @ 3.8GHz.

Here's a picture of the usage and clocks on my 7970. fan speed is stable around 36% and temps around 70 in game...

Anyone have any ideas as what this could be caused by? It's driving me nuts to not only have low frames, but have my usage bounce from 0% to 100% and back down to 0% so often. I'm using 12.3 drivers, and never did RC11.

Thanks guys, and as always, let me know! thumb.gif - Jessekin32

It does with Skyrim too, just not as bad.

That looks like throttling. Something running in the background while playing the games? Such as flash video with hardware acceleration? Youtube etc that lower the core and memory clocks to UVD instead of full 3D clocks?

Edit:

It could be throttling due to the high overclocks with not enough voltage looking at the screen shot.

Never seen something like that during gaming. Try to restart. Most problems are fixed from a simple restart.

This occurred for me as well using a single 7970. Closing down a YouTube video I left playing on another monitor and restarting the game like Zealot suggested cleared it right up. Hope it fixes your problem as well.

This fixed it biggrin.gif

I did raise my voltage up a bit just in case, as well as my fan speed. 1150mV and 60% fan speed. I think this will make for a much more stable machine. And my frames, of course, did skyrocket back up! Flying in jets gets me around 45-60 fps WITH 4xAA, and when im infantry, about 34-36 FPS. I'm running pure ultra settings now, and nothing will stop me!

Now to get an h100, and another 7970. Then I'm good to go!
