I made a RAID0 with a 1TB and 2 TB HD using Intel Storage Controller in BIOS.
As it turns out, the array was 2TB in size with no sign of that other 1 TB.
So basicly I'm buying another 1TB drive, but for real this time rolleyes.gif

the missing 1tb of space won't appear until you allocate it.

click START, type COMPUTER MANAGEMENT, and press ENTER.
a window will pop up, on the left pane click DISK MANAGEMENT.
you should be able to see an UNALLOCATED SPACE there, right click on it and select NEW SIMPLE VOLUME.

well,

By new I've booted back in and set everything back to simple volumes for now BUT I do feel like I need to point something out here.
Ghostrider85 said that it was possible to use that 1TB of space and as it turns out it is doable.

When making an array with the windows disk manager you still have the option to use that 1TB.
After some very quick tests it does seem like the RAID0 speed improvement still applies here.

But then again, I would use that split drive to play games and film with fraps sooo... not happening rolleyes.gif

EDIT: darn, Ghostrider beat me to it bike.gif

i know that the extra 1TB of space is useable by partioning and yes becuase the data of the RAID 0 part is stripped you will have the extra performance.. the point im making is especially with RAID 0 it should be back up to another drive but the risk is up to you wink.gif

[edit] not happening missed that part smile.gif

the separate 1tb of space doesn't have the benefit of the raid 0, because it's not paired, it's not actually under raid 0 array, it's reading/writing alone.
