I'm pretty sure I'll be going G9x. The sensei/G400 are on the back burner for possibly.

Can any G9x Owners fill me in on the sensitivity of the left/right buttons. One thing I really need, is easily clickable left/right. My G5 takes barely any pressure to get a click. This is important. If any can chime in on it, I'd appreciate it. I read some saying left/right were different which I hope isn't the case.

PS. One reason why for example MX518 is good is the right side shape. It has a little "wing" which helps controlling the mouse especially when lifting it. Is there any other mouse which has that kind of innovation?

I found my mx518 last night and plugged it back in for a while. Still worked, and it was one of the first ones. Logitech gear lasts forever. I swapped it back out for my Spawn though. So I wouldn't call it the perfect shape, but it is one of the best.

For the OP, if you want to vary from the mx518/G5 shape, I would not recommend the g9. I used to have one coming from the mx518 and never really liked it. The shape is just too different, awkward even, its a heavy mouse even without the weights and I just don't recommend it.

Here's some of the mice I've got laying around as a comparison. Deathadder Black/MSIE3.0/G9x Precision Grip/Spawn.

MX518 and G500 are the best mice. I have both. I used the MX518 for 6 years, it still works, I use it on my laptop now though. It got replaced by the g500, which is amazing as well.

Exactly why I hated the Spawn, it's shape is so bloody perfect that my hybrid clawgrip became to relaxed and basically turned into a full on weirdass palm grip.

If you're debating between the G400/G500/G9x

G400 is the best out of them, but you might not like optical after years of using the G5. Both the G500/G9x have a mild positive acceleration (which most people can somewhat deal with). But the main deal breaker on the G500 imo is the shape.

It's only a few minor changes but the shape feels so much bulkier compared to a G400 or G5.

Is the acceleration sensor related for G9x/G500? I do like 1:1 but I've had my eyes set on G9x. What ranges of dpi are people experiencing it the most? At lower?

I don't think I've ever used an optical, and everyone keeps saying how great the G400 is so it could be a possibility. The G500 was my initial go to, but like you've sad, and many others, it's apparently bulkier, bigger and doesn't feel the same.

So other than G9x I'm considering G400/Steelseries Sensei.

Interesting as not only did I not notice that the laser is not in the middle I didn't notice any difference other than being much more comfortable with the bulbous G500. I'll have to try my old G5 again and see if it makes any difference. I also have a Razor Orochi lying I'll give a go as well to see how a smaller mouse handles. I basically just use it with my netbook in class because it is Bluetooth, lol.

I bought a little thing for 8 bucks that holds the wrist and slides on the mouse pad, so that isn't an issue for me. I would hate it if any part of my hand or wrist touched the mouse pad, bu thanks for explaining.

Interesting as the main selling point for me is the shape of the G500. Also you can just turn off the acceleration in setpoint (and I always do) so that shouldn't be counted an an issue.

If you have been using the G5 for some time and like it, then you should go and get the G400 (wired) or the G700 if you want the wireless and the option of wired given the proven comfort of the body design since the MX510. The different methods varies based on what ppl are comfortable using. I think the G700 would suit you the best since its a nice upgrade in terms of exterior materials and features if you want to go all out.
