This is all I had to do to get my 680 working well:

I uninstalled AMD Cap and AMD Catalyst from Programs and Features
I rebooted and went into safe mode
I ran Driver Sweeper on the AMD drivers
shut down
I swapped the cards
I booted into windows, went to Nvidia's website, downloaded the drivers, and installed them.
I rebooted, arranged my monitors, and then tested for a few minutes with 3dmark 11 until I was confident the drivers were performing as they should
I then overclocked and gamed until 2AM without a single issue.

I am happy; my GF is happy because I am happy; and most importantly, my cats are happy because I am no longer throwing things.

This pretty much perfectly sums up my experience with both 7970 and 680 as well. No more dancing naked under the stars asking cruel gods of hardware for drivers that don't flicker on 120Hz monitor in 2D. biggrin.gif (not that I don't like dancing naked though) blushsmiley.gif

I cant oc this card i mean come on it is lightning series how the hell we cant oc those ? After 1120 no matter how much voltage i put it is just unstable i dont think that it is because of card.. Everybody knows quality of Lightnings but drivers are just ruining it. Seriously AMD you had 3 months to make perfect drivers but you failed. I am so jealous of seeing how much effort Nvidia is putting into their drivers. They release beta versions so often and they address issues they answer on forums. What about amd ? I was looking for same thing but nope they dont even communicate with users on their forums. It looks like a website from early 2000s. Good job amd if dont do that properly then all you get will be unhappy customers like me. Only reason i switched from 580 to 7970 was quality of lightnings and i wanted to try AMD. Because of drivers i am not having a good experience.

So i guess you are right. This cards are just making me sad. I am not kidding because of drivers and trying to solve simple problems by doing 32432423432 tweaks i started getting stressed. I know its hardware but seriously i am tired of being stressed every single time i try to play a game.

I just love the way lightning looks (god what a pretty card :d ) but if it doesnt work then obviously there is no point of keeping it.

I hope i am not doing a mistake but i think i will switch you Nvidia since i dont lose my money it is worth a shot.

i say wait and see what the next set of driver hold. The card is still young and the drive are not mature. Really has there ever been a new card that has been release with perfect drivers?

I dont think that 680s are having more problem right now and they look much better. Also Nvidia is releasing beta versions so often which means unlike AMD they are actually working hard on making a good driver.

I dont see that much effort on amd's side. Do you ?

I just did the switch a couple days ago and so far it has been worth the trouble of selling my 7970 for a 680
Gameplay has been smoother
You get more useful features like FXAA and Adaptive v-sync (I am using both and work beautifully)
Less power and I think only slightly cooler (not a lot though)
So far better drivers
I can successfully run The Witcher 2 with Ubersampling and play smoothly @2560x1440p with above 30FPS, not even the 7970 could do it (I think the adaptive v-sync is to help with that)

But honestly it depends what games you play or what you use your card for
If you run all your games smoothly with no problems at all just keep it, but if you want the features of the 680 or some of your favorite game don't cooperate with with AMD then I say switch

Just my perspective,
Also If you do switch best of luck finding a 680 online, had to get mine at a local computer shop

I had the Check4change addon for firefox monitoring a few pages on newegg and I had a 680 purchased within 2 - 3 hours smile.gif That card was in my basket and paid for within 60 seconds of coming back in-stock. Useful addons ftw.

I did.

I get better performance in BF3 and I'm quite happy with it.

+ you get 75 bones back.

I am using 7970 Lightning and if i say yes they will change it with Zotac 680 + i will get 75 dollars.

I cant really make my mind please help me to decide ! Thank you.

Definitely worth it especially if you make $75 in the process.

The lightning doesn't even support resolutions greater than 1920x1200 because it lacks dual link DVI...so you need to spend $$ on an active miniDP to dual link DVI adapter.

I've had my 7950 for 3 days and I'm already tired of AMD's horrible drivers...

I say keep the 7970. From personal experience any issues you have are most likely driver related. http://www.overclock.net/t/1231819/new-drivers-out-today-have-amd-finally-done-it-and-fixed-the-7970-issues/20 follow wireeater's steps and you should see a massive performance gain. My mate has a 680 and quiet honestly clock for clock the 7970 beats it in most games apart from some such as bf3 and some others
