GTX 680 is a overclock card from stock. You can push it a little higher but that's all. You hit wall. Also stock 7970 is a lot underclock tongue.gif

Yet, when you look at the performance, even a voltage locked, lower clocked 680 (clocked somewhere in the 1200 Mhz range) will often times outperform a higher overclocked, 1.3v 7970 running 1300 Mhz on the core. Just look at a lot of the benchmarks. The only thing the 7970s are doing better than the 680s right now is scaling with crossfire, but that may change as Nvidia updates their drivers. Remember...the 680s _just_ came out.

Just look through the 3dmark11 graphic scores on this thread and you'll see what I mean: http://www.overclock.net/t/1233063/gtx-680s-vs-hd-7970s-the-ocn-battle-royale-part-2#post_16786081

I have used both, I _own_ both. While they are close, I feel the 680 is often times faster with a lower clock while fully boosted.

If i was a fanboy i wouldnt WASTE my money on amd. I am a person who just wants pure performance but nothing else. If somehow amd manages to make a good driver then sure i can use their cards but until that time i prefer not to buy a card from them.

yeah and im sure i can find people on the forums *****ing about the 680 as well, people tend to only post when *****ing, for everyone 1 person that *****es in a thread about a product there are probably 100 who have no issues with it.

As for the price the 7970 is cheaper now so you cant use that arguement anymore...

I have not had to do any tweaks to my card and its running fine...

Please take your fanboyism elsewhere, the op has both you do not. He has proven the 680 is a better card.

Dude, let the OP whine all he wants, if he's happy with a green card so be it. Don't post in here and the thread will die.

Oh my god why it is such a big issue to say which card is better ? Reviews are there benchmark results are there all you need to do is checking them and comparing to eachother. Thats it.

From my experience gaming on 680 is smoother and much better than gaming on 7970. I dont monitor anything anymore and i can just enjoy my gaming. I didnt get a single issue not even one...

AMD fanboys i am sorry if this is hurting you but it is the truth. I am just a guy who wants to have best pc all the time and i am being honest and objective. With 7970 it wasn't possible to have a stable pc. It is not whine there is nothing to whine anymore i dont own a 7970 anymore i am using 680 and i am happy with it and now i am just warning people to stay away from 7970 even if they need to wait they should wait and get an 680. I used both so hell yeah i know better than some of you if this card is better or not.

http://vr-zone.com/articles/msi-r7970-lightning-review/15270-5.html

vs

http://vr-zone.com/articles/asus-gtx-680-directcu-ii-top-2gb-review/15614-4.html

check and compare 2 special designs and their performances (with and without oc)

It is obvious that 680 is much better and everyone knows that 6 months from today difference between 2 cards will be even more. Nvidia drivers will get better and better as usual, lets also deny that ? Anyone wants to check 6970 first and last driver performance vs 570/580 first and last driver performance to see what i mean... ? smile.gif

This is a simple fact if you dont agree with me i can understand but you cant say anything about results. I gave you link guys go compare them and see who is right here.

PS: i dont even continue with driver issues anymore since according to you everything is fine and it is user fault. why such things doesnt happen when we switch to nvidia and their drivers ? User fault is buying an amd maybe.

Well said 680 is much better by the looks of things, glad we have some user proof that has had both.

Thats the main thing here even if the 7970 was ahead of benchmarks and fps (which it is not) it wouldnt matter cause in the end its all about gameplay and this is proof about which is smoother and more enjoyable.
Sure the 7970 has more compute etc but in gaming their is no contest.
