FX-8120 Overclocked with ASUS BIOS OC Tuner

Thread Starter
Hi all, im new to this forum and fairly new to overclocking. I just built my rig to over clock. I let the bios do it, its an ASUS M5A97 mother board with the latest bios 1102. Under Ai Tweaker in bios advanced menue i hit OC Tuner and let the bios do the overclocking. Upon restart I get these numbers. I use CoreTemp 1.0 RCS to validate these numbers

3887.8mhz cpu speed
250.83 x15.5 bus, mutiplyer
1.3125 voltage

Under Prime95 im getting 38-41c after 2 hours of prime

is this good? should the FSB be so high? and my temps are core temps by the way

Any feedback would be nice.....thank you
Mark D.

check out the bulldozer owners club or any of the AM3+ clubs threads, they have a lot of info for overclocking the BD. i currently have mine running 24/7 at 4.6ghz with corsair h80 cooling. 15-20C idle, 50C load.

these things definitely like to be overclocked...

You should be able to do 4ghz with about 1.4v with 20x multiplier. Increasing the fsb will give you better performance also but it is much easier to overclock with the multiplier. Not sure about bulldozer chips but overclocking your northbridge helps a lot with performance on phenom chips. You should be able to do 4ghz on stock volts and 4.4ghz with about 1.45v, maybe lower even. Good luck!

There are tons of guides out there, One mostly read the AMD FX owner club we have alot of usefully info. 8120 and 8150 on air you should be-able to reach around 4.0-4.6 easy on air.
The chip is easy to over clock. Just some time and effort. Remember not every chip is made the same. Just click on my sigs below and start to read some forums there also pm me if you need some help on overclocking i can give you a step bye step guide and some website to read for you to ease your way into overclocking.
