What would be a half-decent HTPC graphics card that also can play some games?

Thread Starter
I am building file server/HTPC rig and the only thing i am missing is a PCIe Graphics card.

the specs are as follows

AMD Athlon X2 3800+ 2Ghz dual core
2.5GB DDR1 400Mhz
ASUS A8N-LA (OEM HP/Compaq)
3x500GB SATA 2.0 (storage)
750Gb IDE (OS drive)
cheap Blue Ray drive
Starpower 450 Watt PSU(i know its crap but it was free)
OEM Emachines Case+ high end 92MM fan

now with those specs i don't want to spend an arm and a leg for a cheap card that can handle simple games like halo 1 or maybe halo 2.

I was looking at these ones but i just don't have much faith in ATI/AMD anymore (current card has driver issues) And I'll be honest i really don't know much about nVidia driers since i haven't used them since December.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102977 (refurbished)

any suggestions under $75 would be greatly appreciated.

the PSU specs are

3.3V +5V -5V +12V1 +12V2 -12V +5VSB

The highest spec ones I could find on the egg are as follows:
Powercolor Radeon HD 6670 (59.99 w/rebate)
Elitegroup (ECS) GT 440 (59.99 w/rebate)
The 6670 is better than the 440, but since you have a preference for nVidia...
It's your choice.

I find nvidia drivers to be far more stable (running my 8800GT right now).

nice find i don't care for the look of the 440 lol but i think I'll get it, it should be able to handle halo 1. +1

oh yea not saying its better just putting it out there it will play halo 1 relatively easily considering I used to play it on pretty bad school computers back in the day. Just thought it would make it a little bit easier on his wallet lol.

I'd go with this GT 440, it's a little cheaper. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814134138
Or the GT 430 Kuufa linked; it's an awesome bang/buck deal, only slower core clock and DDR3 instead of GDDR5.

Hey OP this is completely off-topic but is there an Ariana Grande fanclub here? biggrin.gif
