Macs now run Windows and Office?

I was just curious....a friend of mine who works for MS Tech Support, mentioned that they've been getting a lot of calls or chats about customers having issues with Windows XP or Windows Vista. Now since both XP and Vista are on extended support and thus any technical support assistance for it is charged the customers would just get angry and say they'll move to a MAC.

My friend though finds this funny, since MAC users are actually running Windows or Office on their Apple computers!!!! redface.gif

Now I just wanted to know are the MS programs running natively as if it were inside a PC or are they using a VM of some sort? Did hear something about Bootcamp and Parallels, but, not really a MAC person myself and never had a MAC computer ever....so forgive me for the ignorance. biggrin.gif

They could run VM's but the most common way is to run XP or 7 through boot camp.

There has been a Mac version of Office for decades now, and you've been able to run Windows natively since 2005/6 (when they made the switch to Intel chips from PPC chips)

Windows actually runs very well on Mac hardware. Boot camp is just a duel boot program, so the OS is not virtualized. I used to duel boot for when I had to run something for school that wasn't availible on OS X, and I needed more RAM then I would be left with when running it in a VM. I actually prefer the OS X version of Office over the Windows version too.
