A petition has already been started, hoping to pressure Namco Bandai into not using GFWL. Within an hour of its publishing, the thing scored 600 signatures and at the time of writing that number is up to 2,560. One can expect it to climb over the next day or so.

Let's hope they change this, one of the few games I'm really looking forward to playing.

The petition to have GFWL removed is fine and I hope it succeeds, but seeing so many people swear the game off because it uses it is pretty darn depressing. We got the game we've been petitioning and begging for (with a nice chunk of additional content to boot) and now they're facing lost sales and boycotts because of something that mostly amounts to a minor inconvenience.

Honestly, if it is on steam and uses GFWL what the hell do I care? It has never got in the way before and we should just be happy we are getting the game.

Pc gamers this is your cue to shut the hell up and just be happy for once and that means a lot coming from me as I am a pretty sour PC gamer and complain a lot about the state of gaming.

Signed.

Can't believe they went with GFWL. I was hoping they'd do their research when porting to the PC but apparently not.

Next thing you know it wont be sold on STEAM. Now THAT would be a slap in the face and a bad start to establishing yourself on the PC platform, though GFWL is just as bad.

GFWL is a "minor inconvenience" at the best of times.

It's just bad DRM with a UI. I hope they, and the population of fans, don't invest much time into this and just remove it.

If they're gonna go GFWL, might as well cancel the whole game for the PC. This is a good petition to tell Bandai that GFWL is going to ruin their game. It's simply a recommendation to turn to Steamworks for a more successful PC title. It's a benefit for both parties, except Microsoft.

Only a small fraction of my Steam games use GFWL, but they've troubled me only slightly more than Steam itself, practically not at all. It wouldn't be a deal killer for me if i was interested in this game. Whats it about anyway?

What's worse is what WB/Rocksteady did with Batman: Arkham City; not only does that use GFWL, but it uses Securom as well - and they didn't even tell anybody prior to release, they were just fluffing us PC players up with all that DX11 talk (which totally sucks by the way). That would kill this game if they did that.

This. GFWL does nothing in the background for me. Just run the game and it practically does not exist.

I don't buy games that require GFWL, not after GTAIV. GFWL gave me an error 90% of the time I tried to log in and because I couldn't log in I was not allowed to save my game. If it's just like Fallout NV where 'GFWL' only means that it supports an Xbox controller, fine. But if it's like GTAIV where you have to log-in to play, that's probably the worst thing they could have done to us, lol.

Cool story, bro, but do drill the following information into your skull that if Dark Souls were using Steamworks, then Steam may be able to use your achievements or the game itself to give out prizes, contests, etc.

That's how I feel about Steam, yet people in this thread seem to be advocating for just that.

Ridiculous petition by a bunch of babies, imo. Who cares what version of bloatware is being used. Steam, Origin, GFWL, etc can all sod-off as far as im concerned.

Eh they should just can the entire pc port because of gfwl /sarcasm

i don't know why i bother reading these kinds of threads or news.
imho i see nothing wrong with gfwl
It's like you can't stand that someone thinks differently than you. I don't want GFWL either. If you're okay with it, fine. But a lot of people aren't, so don't get mad when they speak up and make their voices heard.

Petition signed, by the way.

I hate all of them too, but the difference is Steam doesn't cause me issues like GFWL. The last time I used it, I couldn't even login after resetting my password. I've never failed to login to Steam, even after changing passwords. Granted it's given me a hard time with HL2 before, but that's about it.

What popups?

GFWL isnt THAT bad i have a couple of games that use it and i do not see any pop ups, (appart from the login), and it logs me in automatically with the option ticked off.

Why everyone so nuts over this?

I honestly don't give a dang if it's released on GFWL or Origin. But Namco will get better sales on Steam, just as Alan Wake did.

You're not seeing the bigger picture... pm me if you want me to explain, so I won't have to spam and get warned for posting common sense...

Signed. Yes, I have played games on Steam that also have GFWL. But, it was an inconvenience. Please wait, downloading update. please restart game. please download another update.

All I wanted from the start was steam integration, not GFWL integration with a steam overlay.

I don't think the game will be distributed exclusively via GFWL. It'll use it, but I seriously doubt Namco would pass up releasing it on Steam.
