Should I sell my current rig and build this one? {I have decided to keep my current rig}

Hey guys, I'm wondering if it's time for something new. Should I sell my current build and build this one? Specs are:

Current rig:

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T @ 3.2ghz (stock clock)
Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair IV Formula
Video/Graphics card: Palit GeForce GTX 560 Ti 2GB GDDR5 (Nvidia 3D vision capable)
RAM: 12GB DDR3 1333 (8gbs is corsair, 4 gbs is g.skill. all DDR3 1333)
PSU: OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W
HDD: 1TB Western Digital Black Caviar 64mb cache
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit
Case: NZXT Phantom 410 mid tower

Potential build:

CPU: AMD FX-8120 Processor Eight Core 3.1ghz (4ghz max turbo)
Mobo: ASUS M5A88-M AMD 880G AM3+ Motherboard
video card: XFX Radeon HD 6870 1GB GDDR5 (possibly the 2GB version)
RAM: 8GB Patriot DDR3 1333
PSU: Xion 700W
HDD: Seagate barricuda 1TB 7200rpm, 64mb cache
OS: Windows 7
Case: Xion CyborGX Gaming Mid tower

What do you guys think? I have a budget of about $950-$1000, and I'd like the processor to be the AMD FX-8120 processor. As far as the motherboard goes, I'm not really picky, one that will support a PCI-E card (probably won't use crossfire ever), hold about 12GB ram and one i can safely turbo my processor. Any suggestions? What do you guys think? Thanks!

I would just upgrade the motherboard, CPU, and GPu if you want better performance. Upgrading the rest is a bit like throwing it away, and none of it really needs to go.

Pretty pointless to rebuilt everything, if I may be so blunt.

Ok cool! Thanks for your feedback smile.gif

No there is very little point in "upgrading " to the FX chip.

Personally to better your current rig I would suggest maybe a better GPU with your budget a GTX680, get some 1600mHz ram (a 12Gb kit) and a cooler (Corsair H100).

Overclock the lot, and be happy biggrin.gif

You would also be saving money.

I don't really have any cash now to upgrade though. The money would be coming from selling my current rig tongue.gif So any money for upgrades, would have to come from selling current components.

Basically what you are doing is downgrading.

keep what you got...its a great setup. like everyone else said the new build would be inferior to your current and i know you would not be happy with the performance. get a bigger power supply. some good cooling and learn to overclock that 1090T...you wont be upset.thumb.gif

I would prob get a cheap CPU cooler to overclock on. You could get to 4.0 with no problem on stock, but 4.5 would get you a bit too much heat for day to day operations.

I would just upgrade the cpu and mobo if you can't resist the temptation..lol.The GTX 560TI is better than the 6870 imho. You might also want to get a better PSU

i would get the bulldozer, and overclock the ram, but if you use it for gaming then the 1090t is fine and the 12 gigs of 1333 is fine. the other rig would be a downgrade from your current one lol.
