Why do you hate Origin? - Page 2

Reasons on why I hate Origin's guts:
1) Origin is Spyware
2) It is REQUIRED for BF3 (There's no reason why it's needed, TBH)
3) It sucks on System resources, like RAM, & CPU Usage
4) Game selection & Free games blow, TBH
5) Origin is of no use to me, and there's no main use of it, except to tell you what games you have.
6) Support & Updates for games are atrocious, and absurd.
Those are some reasons right off the top of my head.
I'm looking @ the BF3 Crack from Razor1911 to disable Origin completely.

(This is going to be a riot of a response)

1) How? It tracks data just like Steam or literally ANY OTHER PROGRAM does.
2) Do you know how many games require Steam?
3) From my own tests, it actually uses less resources than Steam. If you're on a computer enthusiast website, does the 10MB of memory and .5% of CPU usage really matter that much to you?
4) The games are obviously mainly going to be EA games as Origin is still relatively new. They have already stated that they have other companies lined up to distribute games through Origin. Do you really judge the service based on the number of free games?
5) It's very convenient to have all of your games from one launcher, as well as having a pretty nice chat and friends interface.
6) I've never had a problem using EA Live Chat and it updates just as often as a stand-alone game would require updates.

Keep 'em coming.

Hate it? Quite frankly, yes I do. Server lists on a web browser... are you guys nuts?! What is this... the 1990's again? Not to mention Battlelog is also buggy as hell in firefox. What the hell was EA and Dice thinking when they did this? Another thing, why should I be forced to exit and re-launch the game every time when I want to switch to a different server?!

This thread is on Origin, not Battlelog...

Steam already has a established community of gamers, and Valve is a much more trusted company than EA. EA simply wants a share of everything, so they made Origin.. and removed their games from Steam. I won't support a company that takes convenience away from their customers just to promote their inferior software.

1) No it doesn't, google around.
2) Steam came first and already established it's community.
3) Agreed, resources of these programs mean nothing.
4) The major problem here is EA is forcing people to use their software and they even removed some games from Steam.
5) Exactly... so why did EA make Origin? Steam already did that, and did it well, then Origin came along and attempts to split things up.
6) Can't comment on live chat/support.

So you're basically saying there should be a monopoly and only one program is allowed to serve this purpose.

EA has already "fixed" the "spyware" problem you are talking about. They apparently stopped the deeper tracking/logging.

Valve forces people to use their software. EA, much like all publishers, are businesses and they are trying to make money, just like other businesses.

I don't really hate Origin, I hate EA. I'm tired of them buying up good developers and running them straight into the ground. I cite Bioware as the latest example, and from what I hear about BF3 DICE isn't doing so well either. I don't want to give them any of my money, so I don't buy their games and that means I don't have to put up with Origin.
