does S.M.A.R.T problems fix themselves automatically ??? LOLLLL !!!

hi...

this thing is really driving me crazy, and if anyone else would say what I am going to say, I would really not believe him !!

I wonder if you guys (those who read it) remember my post a few days ago about a possible fix to my HDD, which had a S.M.A.R.T error.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1241135/can-you-help-me-fine-the-right-firmware-for-my-hdd

even I thought of flashing it to a newer firmware if I would find it, which means that I really was desperate for it, which let me put it under full experiments whatever the results would be....

sure when I posted that thread, I had already unplugged that Samsung HDD from my PC, and used a laying-around 250GB Hitatchi one...

which means that the Samsung 500GB has been laying around for a couple or three days...

tonight, I just unplugged the Hitatchi 250GB one, and re-plugged the S.M.A.R.T FAILED Samsung 500GB to backup the stuff I want, then start whatever occurs in my mind about it rolleyes.gif

but to my surprise, when I started my computer (after re-plugging that HDD) I didn't get that message after POST which warns me about the S.M.A.R.T problem, asking me to backup my stuff, I didn't believe my eyes..

when I logged in to Windows, I ran HD Tune for a full error scan, (which took about 1Hr.30 min to finish) and the result was that there where no single problem, or any block error !!

I also ran SeaGate tools for Windows, and scanned for S.M.A.R.T errors, and it passed successfully, which didn't pass before !!

so what's going on ??? I really want to figure out this matter !!

please find enclosed 2 snapshots of both HDtune and SeaGate tools, showing there were no S.M.A.R.T problems or other errors.

so how does this even happen ?? I didn't even format it as an initial trial for fixing !! HDTune_Error_Scan_SAMSUNG_HD502IJ.png 39k .png file my HDD SMART test.JPG 49k .JPG file

best regards.

Post a screenshot of the "Health" tab for the drive.

oops !! the problem is back again, I don't know what's going on with my HDD, but when I posted this post last night, the HDD was not fixed with the screws, and was put on the ground of the case, now, I opened the case panel to fix it with its screws, when I finished, I booted the PC, to find out that the PC didn't see the HDD at all, so I reopened the case panel and messed up with the cables and something like this, but didn't work also..

afterwards I booted the PC with the Partition Magic 8.5 CD inside the drive, and once it loaded, it detected several errors and it asked me to approve fixing them, so I did and approved them all.

after this, the main menu of Partition Magic showed up, but it only detected "Unlocated" disk... hehehehe LOLLLLL

I rebooted the PC, and in that time I just went to check out the workers of the workshop that were doing some maintenance of our home water pipes, and came back to the PC again, to find Windows password screen waiting for me, so I entered the password, and now I am posting from it ..

what can I do to make this HDD stable??

this thing is really really really driving me crazy guys...

but I am now downloading defraggler and will do as you asked, though I don't know what could defraggler do more than HD tune or SeaGate tools ??

I will post back what you've asked for later.

Not at all. You need to RMA it or get a new drive. did you see the value of those error rates? bigeyedsmiley.png

nope, I didn't see, I just took a quick snapshot that you asked and then uploaded it.

I have just reinstalled Windows after doing a quick zero-filling, and a 20% full zero-filling ( I just couldn't wait till it finishes.)

now it seems to be stable again, I am going to install Defraggler now and re-post a snapshot, so please let me know if there is any difference, since you might now better than me in this as I am not that expert !!

well... in a quick glance, I saw that there was nothing changed between the old snapshot and the new one, but here I would like to ask please what's the difference between "real" and "current" ??

as I am seeing the real values = 0, while the current ones equates disasters I think ?? thinking.gifthinking.gif

and if there are problems, and especially the S.M.A.R.T ones, how comes it's stable now ??

I wonder if you can go a bit further on this please ??

thanks really.
