honestly, I would sell that 5770 here nice and quick for about 70$ and buy yourself an i3 21xx or pentium Gxxx + the cheapest motherboard you can find that makes you happy.
even the cheapest processors these days don't have a gigantic impact on game performance.
use the money saved for a better GPU.
edit: do you do anything other than 'run dual screens, browse, and play the occasional game' ? anything processor intensive like rendering?

i mean, not usually. i do some photoshop and vegas work here and there. i also run linux distros.

but yeah, when i game, i like to game on max. i would hope to gain some fps with this upgrade in games like gtaiv, wow, source games etc.

overall, i just want to upgrade my computer to more toward todays technology, for what i can afford, and have fun building it, and overclocking it, watercooling it, even though i dont have a real NEED. its more of a want.

If you want to OC and use a 2500K ..I highly recommend a P8p67 pro..with the original BIOS biggrin.gif
It's a rock-solid board..No need for z77 to go fast sonic.gif

I just want a good quality mobo thatll last me, and possibly be able to upgrade to toher processors in the future.

edit: ok so the P8P67 costs about the same or more than the z77's from what i see lol.

why not this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128545
and heres the i5 http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0354589
and then i am just going to pick up some ram. probably 4gb considering i have 5gb now and i dont see the need to really have that much, but maybe ill go 8.

Yeah, definitely go for a z77, it's ridiculous go right now for something "old" (p67, z68)

Save your money get a 2500k with a z68 board and 8gb ram.
You won't see any benefit from Ivy with your needs.

LOL I was thinking this as well

Also I think intel is going to a new socket next round, next year sometime, so a z68 would be the best option since you won't be able to upgrade your processor to next gen and IB isnt really worth the upgrade from sandy

Unless Z77 is cheaper (or hardly any more) than a z68 board, I'd get a z68. What would a Z77 offer with a SB chip? Maybe native USB3.0, maybe improved virtu. Nothing really worth any sort of price premium, and upgrading to ivy in a couple years won't be that big of an improvement, you'll likely just skip it and need a new board come haswell/broadwell or later.
I wouldn't get a P67 though, z68 has a couple more features for the same price or less.

If you can get a cheaper 2500k ($180 is good), I'd go for that, because it's unsure whether you can get a 3570k for that much, and the motherboard will likely be more. You won't see much improvement if you got an IB chip.
