The more logical and beneficial approach would be Nintendo stick to the handheld market, Sony focus more on consoles, and Microsoft just drop the Xbox and go back to PC gaming.
I hope Sony puts more attention on consoles, they've always been the superior producer in console gaming. They just went out on a limb with the PS3 launch, and it hurt them. Lesson learned, I believe they'll recover from their loss streak with the new management they seem to have now.

no memes in the news section thanks~5entinel
Nintendo and Microsoft both make great consoles. Sony lagged just hair behind with the PS3, but still produced a great console. But consoles are not what made Sony lose that money. It was all their product lines that started to fade.
  • VAIO COMPUTERS
  • TELEVISIONS
  • COMPACT CAMERAS
  • ALPHA NEX AND DSLR CAMERAS
  • VIDEO CAMERAS
  • TABLETS AND E-READERS
  • HOME THEATER AND BLU-RAY
  • DOCKS AND HEADPHONES
  • PLAYSTATION

That list doesn't even begin to list all their products.

Sony has tried to dominate every market and in the end it is killing them. They just need to focus on the the things they do best; like TV's, consoles, and computers. Instead of having 100 different mediocre product lines that other companies out perform.

i think sony should just focus on gaming & PC's. I really dont think Sony in itself makes all that great products to begin with.

Xbox is one of the worst things to ever happen to gaming, Console or PC.

How would that be logical? The kinds of games on the Xbox do not usually sell nearly as well on PC, and the Xbox has had great success.

Microsoft manager: "Hey guys, we've had a great 8 year run with the Xbox, what should be do next?"
Microsoft associates: "We should stop making it and focus on PC gaming, in which we don't sell any hardware for."

If you use a Plasma at all, you'll realize you can't go back to LCD's / LEDs. They are so much alike CRT's!
We'll have to wait and see on OLED's and all that.

Oh how I loath the new "LED TV" marketing. We do not have LED screens, we have LED back-lit screens. The true LED TV, with three light emitting diodes per pixel, will likely be the ultimate in video display technology. Until we find a way to stream images into a persons brain, LEDs are the best (Perfect black levels, response time measured in thousandths of a second, and no annoying reflective panel, you look straight at the diodes producing the light).

Oddly enough, Sony is the only company I've heard of actually working on an LED display (everyone else is doing OLED, which is more easily produced for some reason, but burns out faster).

I know Sony was pondering the principal sales of their Blu-Ray holdings for capital recovery. Considering all the other hands on the table, I think it would be a shot in the foot.

On the other side of things, it would be a good thing for Sony to stick to their guns, and do their absolute best to continue to keep up with the rest of the gaming groups, and keep mobile products as staple, and try to condense their gaming model into something that can uphold high-end standards with budget friendly costs.... it's a no brainer that initially, you're going to have to spend money to get a new console. Their downfall has been rapid fire production, due to supply and demand. If they play their cards right, they can come back three quarters of the way in the next 18, but it will take twice as long to get out of the red and into the margin.

I hope they go back to what really made them great.
I still love my good ol' PSX and PS2. Need to get out of all these markets that have 50 competitors offering the same product at better prices.
They just need to make an awesome console, plan it well so its not selling as a horrible loss, then make sure all the JRPGs are translated for it.thumb.gif
All the gaming systems have their strong suits, lets return to Nintendo having all the great first party games, PS having the RPGs and Xbox having all the crap no one cares about.
I think we can all agree on that. (Don't take it too hard, I'm only kidding)

OH NO! COMPANY IS GOING BANKRUPT, SELL YOUR STOCKS!

I think you have a slight misinterpretation of economics here.

It's not they fell 6 billion short of their goal of 50 billion in profits...it's that, if i use your figures, they spent 50 billion and only made 44 billion which equals 6 billion net loss. Understand?

I miss Sony LCD's. But on the good hand Vizio has been doing well and is an AMERICAN company.

I had a very bad experience with Vizio, I bought a 27 inch monitor that went out after a week and they wanted me to PAY for shipping to them to fix it. I said Balls to that, it' was lke 35 pounds and would have cost me $50.

So part of me want's to say Screw vizio and part of me wants to be happy an American company is doing well.
