Thanks for doing this! I'm impressed by Ivy's IPC gains, but the tempature rumors are concerning me. If the i5-3750k has trouble hitting 4.8ghz at decent temps then I'll probably be sticking with SB chips for another generation.

Yes, my chip will not hit anyway close to 4.8Ghz, on anything less then a chilled rig (able to keep water temps @ 20c under load) Could be that i am able to lower the voltages a bit, but considering that it's failing Prime95 @ 4.5Ghz with 1.3v Vcore tells me that my chip is not going to able to run @ much above 4.2-4,3Ghz 24/7 with a custom water loop.

Punceh is able to get 4.5Ghz @ 1.17v and 4.7Ghz @ 1.225 (IIRC) so he obviously has a much better chip, but even at that voltage he is hitting mid 60's under load @ 4.5Ghz and close to 80C @ 4.7Ghz.

I'm back home now, so i'll finish the 4.5Ghz SB benchmarks and then i'll start looking at overclocking and temp comparison.

4.8@1.225 was also stable and i got to say though that the 80C temps are only in IBT and they are the 0.1sec spikes in temp. low 60's during normal full load like folding.

Ok, that is good to hear. Why did i not get your chip tongue.gif i'm able to keep the heat under control pretty high up, highest i tried was 1.45v and even then it was not a problem. Let's just hope the leak on mine is greater then yours that should mean a higher OC under LN2.

Yes, but seeing how hot this is, i'm scared to see results with HT on. Usually adds quite a lot of heat.

Update: Soon done with 4.5Ghz SB benchmarks, but i think i need to redo my IB 4.5Ghz run, ATM im getting about 4-10 sec faster runs with SB @ 4.5Ghz then i did with IB.

I wonder what it can do on chilled water or ln2 tongue.gif when i tried to hit 5ghz, at 1.35V it did complete like 3 runs of linx already so it cant be that far off from being stable, the temps just hit 95-100C frown.gif

That is way beyond what my chip is capable of doing ATM, i'm failing Prime95 @ 4.5Ghz with 1.32v

Another update on the first post.
- Uploaded the 4.5Ghz Sandybridge benchmarks.
- Redone 3.4Ghz Sandybridge and 4.5Ghz Ivy Bridge benchmarks due to different ram timings
- Updated the summarize section.

ATM all clock for clock benchmarks are done.
The thing is that in 3Dmark11 i am getting 2.27% lower score with IB @ 4.5 then with SB @ 4.5. I had to redo the 4.5Ghz IB tests because the ram timings was not matching the SB timings, and by doing that i raised the average score by ~500 points, but even after this i'm getting lower score. I did 10 runs on both cpu's and checked that ram timings, ram freq and everything was matching, but the gap was still there. (punech could you do couple of 4.5Ghz 3dMark11 physics tests and check your scores? I'm running my ram @ 1600Mhz 9-9-9-24 2T so try to get as close to that as possible.

I'm hopefully getting started with comparing temperatures on a fixed voltage between 2600K HT off and the 3570K, after that i will see what i can do about my max clocks on the 3570K.

Found this interesting. I guess the i7's are 95w instead of the once thought 77... Not looking too good for Ivy so far.

Doesn't look good at all. Haswell, I think you're my next upgrade frown.gif
