[Build Log] Intel i5 3570K, 7870 CFX in MATX TJ08-E

Thread Starter
Whats up OCN smile.gif I totally forgot to do a build log for my current rig but with Ivy bridge on the way , im starting to buy new parts for my upcoming powerful MATX rig. Why Matx ?! Well I just need a small tower that I can carry around while not compromising all the good feature a standard desktop can offer. I live at three different places, so I need something compact. Why not a laptop you may ask ... well I hate laptop, you cant overclock, cant easily remove or replace hardware, have to keep the same monitor for yearss, its also a little tricky to clean up.

So heres the list of the stuff I plan to buy or have already bought , feel free to suggest me some idea if you want thumb.gif

Processor: Core i5 3570k

Motherboard: Asus Z77 Maximus Gene V

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X 2x4GB 2133Mhz CL11

Graphic cards: Crossfire Asus HD7870 DCII

Heatsink: EVGA SuperClock

Power supply: Corsair AX650

Case: Silverstone TJ08-E

SSD: Corsair Force GT 120GB

So why a TJ08 ... its a weird reversed case isnt it?! Well its the only MATX case that ive found with all black interior, cpu cut out, black front panel cable, better than average ventilation (for MATX standard) Ahah, and I plan re-reverse it IF its possible! ... everythings perfect about this case, except for that fact thats reversed, I really hate that label on motherboard and gpus will be upside down.

So I will take some picture later today, I will receive few parts, hope you guys enjoy !

I wouldn't get a crossfire setup. Takes much more power than a single card, more heat, and only like 50 games support AMD crossfire. I'd go for a 680 or a 670, and then you'd probably get better performance with less power and heat.

Also, a Hyper 212 is a great budget cooler for a build like this. I have my 2600k @ 4.4 GHz never getting above 65C while doing a Prime95 Blend Test for 10+ hours.
