My Sound isn't getting loud Enough!

This is annoying. I've been gone for around a week and my computer has been used by others. They must have screwed something up. The audio at first was only coming out of right speaker now it's coming out of most of the them, maybe not left. But anyways, I have all the audio levels cranked up to max and the volume is just bearably hearable. These z5500 can really boom, why can't I get them up. Please help me with some ideas. Thanks.

Yes everything is plugged into a surge protector that is plugged in. Also, the built in sound has been VERY loud. Now it is normal listening level.

New development. When listening to vlc media player volume is back up to normal volume level, but ONLY on rear speakers! All other programs are quiet and come on right, center, rear left/right, but not the left channel.

Anybody have some ideas?

That is such a lie with MY onboard sound i get as much performance as my x-fi
Maybe not as much of surround sound or base but still is loud.

HAHA THAT is such a lie. Ive had OB DFI audio and a simple audigy 2 ZS. Not only is it cleaner but it gets louder and it overall much better.
