Witcher 2 putting my CF 7970 onto its knees? - Page 2

Smo, what drivers are you using?

I am on RC11 because when I tried 12.3, it was causing my second card to NOT downclock from 3d clocks down to 2d clocks so I am hesitant to try other drivers. I have my RC11 with the latest CAP drivers.

I did try to turn vsync OFF and same problem. Seeing as how Smo, is able to maintain 120fps most of the time, something is definitely wrong with mine.

Try running it without HT, like Skullking said. Might help.

I tried disabling HT as well, and +rep Smo thanks for the run.

I'll go ahead and try 12.4 drivers to see how they do, do they downclock your second card when idling?

^thats not the point.. have you tried both cards individually it could be a diying card?

I haven't, but it has no problem playing BF3, Crysis 2, and Metro 2033 so I'm pretty sure the second card isn't dying. Also, with vsync OFF, during less intense areas, I do sit at a good 120FPS it's just when things get bad, vsync on OR off, it dips down to 45-50FPS.

Someone in there said that the version 1.3 patch improves SLI/Crossfire performance. Could this be your issue?

Can you post what the [Rendering] section of your User.ini looks like? I ask because the configuration tool is buggy. It's located in Documents>Witcher 2 (not The Witcher 2 (you'll see both)>Config.

I'm using 12.4 beta and 12.2 CAP 1.

It's a known issue with 12.3/12.4 beta that card #2 doesn't downclock to idle (until you run a 3d application, then close it). After you've played a game, it works fine (and has been fixed in 12.4 official driver set).

Personally, I think disabling HT is a bad idea (not to mention it turns your 2600k into an overpriced 2500k).
