Using the HAF-X LED Switch For Something A Bit More?

I've got the HAF-X case and on the front panel is a push button switch attached to 2 wires which accepts 2 wires from the front fan and serves to switch the fan's led on/off independently of the fans motor. That is to say the LED can be turned on/off but the fan will always spin. I'd like this switch to also turn on and off a pair of cathode tubes (the standard ones with the blue transformer). Below is a schematic of the wiring I'm working with and some labels of the wires which I believe would be needed for this mod.

A. Below are the wires for the cathode kit

B. the HAF-X's switch

Question is, is there a way to have this switch on the HAF-X to make the cathodes go on/off simultaneously with the front fan's LED?

Any help would be greatly appreciated smile.gif

I couldn't say without knowing the complete wiring schematic of the case fan's LEDs and the switch. It's possible that it's acting as a disconnect from the fan's 12V to the FAN LEDs, a disconnect in the ground, or even a separate 12V supply just for the LEDs

If it happens to be a double-pole switch, then you can simply wire the CCFL to the other side, otherwise you'd have to trace all the circuitry related to the FAN and it's LEDs to be able to really say what can be done.

Thanks radodrill for the reply, I've read on other threads of a person with voltmeter who tested the wires on the HAF-X (1b & 2b) and reported no voltage on those wires. Does that help any?

I did that exact mod in my old HAF X. Its just a disconnect switch, I soldered the power wire for the cathode inline on the switch, quick and easy. thumb.gif

Here's what I ended up doing since i didn't want to screw up the case as a intro project as (if you didn't know) I'm new to wiring/electrical projects - more used to the ones cutting, watering, and plugging/unplugging. But I like.

BTW: I got this switch at radioshack, a SPST model #275-020 at radio shack, I asked for advice with the mod...
Guy: "Can I help you with anything"
Me: "Just looking for a switch and could use help hooking it up to a molex"
[Guy has puzzled look on his face gave away the fact that he'd never heard the words molex then calls over another employ and I swear made the exact same expression. They pretty much leave me alone to google on my phone (clutch) until I walked over to the cell phones where the came running back to help.]

I learned that if you stand by the cell phones they rush back to help you.

And the cathode lit up with the LED!
