[VR-Zone] BBB accuses BioWare of false advertising over Mass Effect 3 - Page 5

Whether or not the BBB is fishing for payoffs (which I doubt it actually is), this string of bad press has to be making someone uncomfortable. Mass Effect 3 has had an immense ripple effect and seeing how it will all play out might shape the rest of the industry.

The script was leaked. Therefore their right as a company to protect the integrity of their product allows them to make changes that invalidate previous comments due to those comments being relevant to something major that happened that devalued their product (a RPG where you know the story is not at full value). 16vs 3 endings (Click to show)
As for 3 endings, this is false. There are 3 different "red" endings, 2 "blue", and one "green". While they are visually similar, the implications of all 8 are significantly different. Yes, the endings aren't notably different in the "now" sense of where the game ends. Where they differ is in what happens next- Synthesis has the relays destroyed, but with all organics being partially synthetic, they will survive to see them rebuilt, as their builders, the reapers, are still functioning and now allied. Control has the reapers under Shepard's control, but the question remains if he can maintain control. Then destroy, you have everything from annihilation of the galaxy (absolute minimum EMS) to Shepard awaking- possibly from indoctrination. Not to mention how each of the races presence in the victory fleet plays things out- just look at what the Geth did for the Quarians in a VERY short time, imagine how much their adaptability and processing power would aid the survival of everyone... The Krogan are now stuck on a fleet with nothing to kill- did Wrex survive, and if he did, can he keep them in line?... the Batarians hated the citadel races, they were willing to fight the reapers, but will they once again retreat into seclusion?... ect. Yes, the cutscenes are pretty damn similar. Their meanings are dramatically different.

However, I still want to know how Javik got back to the Normandy when he was next to me in Harbinger's beam. I get that Joker bugged out when the citadel exploded, but.... Javik, y u no share ur teleportation tech and y u steal my Liara?!

The BBB has no reason to do this except as a money grab. Their conclusion is invalidated by BioWare announcing that they are releasing an ammended ending, showing that they are taking the complaints seriously and reacting to them. The BBB didn't need to get involved. Their involvement only invites bad press as they have no legal standing to do anything. Therefore the only gains the BBB can see from this is from payoffs- their "goals" have already been put into motion before they announced them.

Bad publicity for Bioware is the least they should get for this fiasco.

I am honestly so disappointed with EA and Bioware, all their games recently have become mud its disgraceful. They will never see a dollar from me ever again unless they start caring about their customer base.

I think you guys might be blowing this a bit out of proportion, I played through ME3 and thought it was fine, what the heck was everyone expecting it to be anyway?

If companies like the BBB are going to do this to games then developers will just stop advertising anything about their games beyond a commercial trailer. If gamers don't like the games, then don't buy them, problem solved. But, I guarantee you for every gamer that has whined about ME3, there are 10 that loved it.

Logic, how refreshing.

The hilarious part is going to be 6-7 months from now when GOTYs start getting announced when ME3 snags its fair share.

I'm fine if they stop advertising beyond the trailers. Honestly, I don't see what people aren't seeing here. They promised something in their product, it wasn't there and now people are upset. We didn't hate ME3 and that's part of the problem. The game was beautiful right up until the end when any choice we made was negated by the star kid. We're sentenced to the three different colors from the start of ME1. Does it matter if you save Wrex? Nope! What about blowing up the human reaper? Not at all. Hell, that comes back anyways. Mass Effect was a series that toted consequences for every action you made. They managed to snuff out that very theme in the last 5 minutes of the series. Don't sit there in interviews and tell us over and over how important our choices are AND the potential to get one of 16 different endings only to drop the ball on the finished product. Having one scene with three different colors doesn't mean much

If the game was crap, I can say with confidence no one would care how terrible the ending was. But it wasn't. The game was great. They just failed to deliver on the ending which invalidates much of that.

There have been plenty of great games with bad endings, but they didn't warrant petitions, protests, and attention from the BBB.

You missed my point. In any case, I'm done. Neither of us is going to change our opinions.

No whining here, I just hate a rushed incomplete game that has planned DLC after you complete it.
