Can not access boot menu, edit boot options? [Case Closed]

post #1 of 9

Hello, I am having some troubles with a clients PC. She has changed her password and now she can not remember it, I was hoping to just do an easy fix by booting HBCD and using the tools on that. However either the computer skips the BIOS screen altogether or goes way to damn fast for me to see it. I have tried pausing the screen but can never seem to get it at the right time, I have gotten into the Edit Boot Options menu by holding down F10. However I am not familiar with this screen, nor am I sure if it is what I think and I can edit it to try and boot from a cd before the Hard Drive. If it is what I think I would apprecaite an answer on what to type into this file to get it to try booting from a cd first. The Computer is a Toshiba Satellite L55-S5154, thank you all in advance!

is the password set for her windows profile or in the bios?

if its the bios,theres nothing you can do apart from sending it back to toshiba.the bios password is on the motherboard bios chip.even a hdd change wont help.

No it is on her user account in windows, I can't access the BIOS or the boot screen because I never get a Toshiba BIOS Screen with the options and I have tried every F key to try and get to it but the must I can pull up is a "Edit Boot Options" Screen black with white text. I think I can set the order of what the computer tries to boot from here and boot into my HBCD but I am not sure.

i had a toshiba satellite laptop before with bios by phoenix technologies.

i had to press f8 to enter bios and del for boot menu.

and about the forgot windows password,try the forgot password option.it will ask u the answer for the secret question you selected.if the answer is right,the password will be reset.

I have tried all of the F keys and also the delete key, along with a few other keys I thought might get me there. But nothing is working like I said though I can get to a screen that is white text on a black background that is labeled as "Edit Boot Options" here is what it says in its entirety.

Edit Boot Options
Edit Windows boot options for: Windows 7

Path: \windows\system32\winload.exe

Partition: 2
Hard Disk: 197dcfb7

[ /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN

ENTER=Submit
ESC=Cancel

I am not familiar with this screen, but it seems to me that if I knew the right command to enter, I could get it to boot into my CD from here?
