Have set up the new client on my sig and the first thing I have noted is when one particular task went in to 'high priority' it suspended all other tasks, even GPU tasks
(The task was BURP and was set run on 7cores)
With no real way to set GPU tasks to run all the time it could peeve me off wth.gif
what could be cool is if they built in a system of priority, so if their was a task like. . . say. . . . Neurona@home or Test4Theory@Home it would run them before anything else
especially Neurona@home with only one task per computer?

This for sure. I would love to be able to let those two run none stop on my rig while using other projects to fill the rest

I got it installed to my spare system which I just installed Windows Home Server 2011 on a couple of days ago. Installed AMD catalyst drivers 12.2 windows7 64bit and now I am crunching on a Moo WU with ATI 4870. I forgot how slow it is compared to my 6950.

edit: piece of advice to anyone who is searching, Remoted Desktop Connection will disable GPU calculation when active. This caused me some unnecessary headaches trying to figure out why it shows GPU missing even though event log detects it perfectly.

I use TightVNC for all remote desktop stuff... works great, you can set Low Bandwidth connection and doesn't mess anything up... Installed on ALL boxes...

Anyone having problems with windows explorer crashing as it`s happened to my rig a few times since i upgraded to Boinc 7.0.25.
I`ve done a full virus scan and used malwarebytes and no nasties .The only change to my system lately has been the Boinc upgrade so that looks the most likely suspect.
I`ve reverted back to the previous build and am waiting to see if that will cure it.

I had some problems until I realized it was the way my Nvidia 301 drivers were setup...

I forgot to go back after the update and change the PhysX to CPU and set max performance mode on the GPU's etc...

Also, I have 7.0.25 on all boxes now running fine without issues using Catalyst 12.2, 290.53 and 301 Nvidia... it's all in the setup...

If you are running Nvidia drivers on your 460, you will see a NEW CUDA GPU select in the new 301 drivers... that could solve some problems for gamers too....

All in all, no real problems...

Make sure to disable hardware acceleration on Steam and Silverlight and any other applications you have. Also helps to not use Arrow and keep to a simple 2D desktop...

Also, app_info files that command MORE than one task per GPU are problematic.... there is an issue with BOINC trying to suspend the tasks that locks up the screen until the driver resets causing a calculation error... so recommend you don't use that with Nvidia..

Since rolling back to the previous release of boinc yesterday i`ve not had explorer crash so i guess it must be some incompatability between my system and the new boinc software.
Think i`ll wait untill another release before trying again.wink.gif
