Why would a non-ref cooler be the way to go? Technically you don't want the GPU to dump heat into your case, especially this one. I have the same case and am using a ref GTX 680, and temperatures are 75 @ about 55% fan speed when running a fully maxed out UNIGINE test for 3+ hours. If you don't mind the non-ref heating up your whole case, but keeping your GPU a few degrees cooler, than go for the non-ref, but it'll increase your CPU and HDD temperatures by a few degrees... quite a trade-off biggrin.gif

That's food for thought, I figured there would be no cool air for the GPU with a ref design with the one intake I'll have through the H60, but I might as well go reference and if I hate it (too loud) I'll snag a cooler lol.

Main Newegg order came in today. Hoping for the case tomorrow.

I got the mobo, fans, PSU and SSD today biggrin.gif

No time for pics me and the wife were busy wink.gif

Actually some of the air from the 140mm doesn't go through the radiator, as seen in the photo below, so the 680 will get some fresh cool air. Also, I cannot stand noise and the 680 reference cooler is pretty quiet while in 2D. There's some noise while gaming, but it's way quieter than my previous card (Asus 560 ti TOP). Needless to say, I completely agree with duhasttas.

Reference cooler it is, I'll pop some photos up when I get home in a couple hours. Is there a good hosting site where I can upload everything at once?

Ok I love how this one looks so I bought it biggrin.gif

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102982

Was just thinking I don't want the top fan to be an intake no matter what, ill just be pulling hot exhaust from the gpu back inside. So I will have 2x 120mm and 2x 80mm intaking on the bottom and the gpu and 1x 120mm exhausting on top

So the 7970 is in the mail. I am getting my back tattoo finished up today (I had a sunburn last time lol) and the 7970 should be here tonight. Still waiting for stupid IB to release though! I have the system all set up, the sleeving went OK. Not too shabby considering it was my first time, I broke a few pins but pulled some off of another PSU and am fine. Plugged everything in and the fans run lol. I think I need to clean some wiring up though, might move the 2nd HDD into the hotswap bay to help that a bit...or might take the time to shortedn the cables. Doubt I'll do that though, if anything I'd buy the cable kit from SS with shortened cables.

Promise I will get some pictures in today, should be off work early so the sun will still be out

I wish I would have seen your log sooner frown.gif

I'd say since you bought a Z77 board and a PCIX 3.0 card to definitely wait for IB. If you put SB in this build you won't be running on a PCIX 3.0 bus (since the controller for such is built into the CPU).

For the GPU I'd say a reference cooler would be best since as others noted you really want to be exhausting the GPU out the top of the case and not into it. I have a reference GTX 680 in my FT03B and it is very quiet under load and silent while not. I don't know how loud the 7970s get but I can't imagine they're as quiet as the 680s.

For the fans, pardon my not seeing specifics about the ones you went with, but I would recommend 4pin PWM ones for both the 120mm and the 80mm. The bright orange Cougar 120s I bought from Newegg are fantastic. They are silent, perform very well, and look great too. (edit - OK, so my phone pulled up the fan links finally. The black and red silenx ones should look pretty nice and match the motherboard smile.gif)

Looks like a fun build so far. Sub'd.
