i have never understood why people complain about how long it takes to do RMA's when all they do is email. If you call them, asus can be ok. I called about an rma mins after filing an RMA to try to speed things up. At the end of the call they were emailing me the advanced rma paperwork and i faxed it to them and had a replacement at my door in 2 days. That said, again this is horrible. i just read another post on here from someone with a gpu that was damaged in shipping and its been 2 months and he still has not gotten a replacment.

I have had to call 6 times because the first person said "try updating the bios, I cant sit on the phone with you for more than 10 minutes or they get mad, so call back". I have asked to speak with supervisors and they tell me thats impossible, and everything they tell me to do will take 24-48 hours. I don't think I have ever dealt with any RMA service worse than Asus. If this persuades at least one person from avoiding this garbage company, I feel this post was worth it.

I have done RMA's with sapphire, xfx, asus, gigabyte, wd, seagate, hp, lenovo, and evga. Evga was probobly the easiest i have ever used, sapphire took a while but i rma'd 2 4850x2 2gb long after they stopped making them. they ended up sending me 2 bnib 4850x2's. XFX can be a pain, but as long as you take pics, your good. WD was not hard. Asus, for me, was the easiest i have ever done. Maybe im one of the lucky ones. Seagate was HORRIBLE. they are still telling me my 1TB samsung spinpoint with receipt from newegg and box with matching serial numbers is a OEM part for pre-built computers. First, i have never heard of hp/toshiba/asus/ecer/dell using Spinpoints in a factory pc, ever. 2nd i have a receipt with box and they still refuse to do the RMA. Seagate has lost thousands of dollars because of me. In my 6 months at staples, i have NEVER sold a seagate. if people want seagate over wd, and refuse to try wd, oops, we are out of all seagate harddrives. seagate is one company i would be happy if they burned down.

on top of that, seagate only has 1 plant that was damaged by flooding, yet there prices went up just as wd did. they are price gouging pricks.

Corsair and NZXT have been very easy to work with for me. Even WD was extremely easy. I did do the cross ship method where they put a hold on my credit card, but they dont charge anything if you ship your old one back, and I am getting a replacement drive in 2 days. ASUS technical support is easily the worst I have ever dealt with, minus an order I had placed with HP. HP is also absolutely terrible, but thats a different story. I placed an RMA last friday and I feel I will be lucky to get a replacement board within 2 weeks, and this is supposed to be the fast cross ship method. I cant even imagine how god awful sending your board in first will be. I get to fill out the form they sent to me 2 days late tonight that asks for a serial number that I already know for a fact does not exist on my board because we could not find it when placing the RMA, and I have not removed any stickers. The person on the phone basically was telling me I was a liar when I told him the sticker didnt exist. Absolutely worthless organization.

From what I understand, each plant makes one part of a hard drive. I think the plant that got hit made the motors for the HDD, so without those, their prices would have to go up as well.

To update my situation, I emailed one of the reps and was contacted by a supervisor. He was extremely helpful and told me to email my form to him directly and he will overnight my board to me. This has restored my faith in ASUS and makes me comfortable recommending them again.
