Cooler Master Hyper TX3 any good?

Thread Starter
Okay, so I just built a light system for my mom and the CPU temps are quite high for a system at stock. 85C speedfan reports with no load. Not surprising as stock coolers are supposed to give garbage temps but it shouldn't be this high should it?

I was looking at a Hyper TX3 as a cheap solution, any opinions? I'm just concerned about the pushpin install. The system won't be overclocked much, if at all. She just uses it for some light CAD work and browsing. I'm

Most of my experience is with AMD processesors. That said, 85C is high and sounds like a problem with fitting the heatsink. Have you tried reapplying the thermal paste after a good cleaning?

The Hyper TX3 is a decent heatsink, but you can do a lot better without much in the way of cost. My girlfriend's computer uses one and it does alright. Is it an improvement over stock however? Probably. I wouldn't pay over $20 for it though.

The TX3 is great little cooler, I threw one on my sister in laws PC, she´´s running a 65w, same tdp as yours, for anything up to 65w they´re fine.
Nice and quiet, the spring clips on the fan make it easy to remove and clean as well.
I haven't had the pleasure of push pins yet so I can´t comment on that.

85c under no load seems too high even for a stock bigeyedsmiley.png for me at least.

i used hyper tx3 once and yes it was a noticeable improvement under the stock fans. however i always get a bad, nagging feeling using those push pins. im not used to it and it makes me uncomfortable so i jumped to the 212+ instead.

I have and amd athlon ii x2 260 clocked at 3.5 ghz and when i play games it never reaches over 40 Celsius. Couyld i be able to oc to 3.7 and what would be my max temps plzzz answer.

The heatsink is cheap enough to nearly negate the usefulness of new thermal paste.

it would bring temps down by FAR, which in turn helps the cpu use marginally less power. good investment for the years to come over a tube of thermal paste.

( the heatsink comes with thermal paste btw. )
