If by "they" you mean the devs then I don't think it is their fault the CoD series has been the same since CoD4. It's the publishers who are saying they want a new game every year. Do you have any idea how long it takes to make a whole new game? If done properly it should take 2-4 years, but the devs don't really have a choice. They have to recycle the old games. Not only that but the CoD sheep just keep buying them which is making the publishers think it's a good game. Well actually I don't think they care about whether a game is good or not, just that it makes them money.
You may say that it is the publishers fault, but not really. The devs are still greedy as hell because they could leave and join/make a new studio that cares about making a good game as opposed to this recycled crap, but they don't want to lose their cash flow.They are more worried about cash because they probably don't think they would be able to make a successful game if they left Activision.
Everything is about money these days. It is kind of sad the direction that gaming is heading. Back in the early 2000's ever game coming out seemed awesome, but now everything seems to be crappy rehashes.Edited by icehotshot - 4/12/12 at 8:13pm
