[HWC] Breaking News: AMD HD 7970 Price Drop Incoming - Page 21

I honestly don't know what all the fuss is about with AMD drivers, I don't think i've ever had an issue, and i've been using AMD since the release of the 6990M (My laptop) and 7970 (my desktop) hell i'm about to pick up a second 7970 so i can fully max out eyefinity.

This thread should pretty much sum it up:

I have bolded items in your post as a hint of where you'll have problems, if you indeed happen to encounter them. smile.gif

Changed my mind tho would much rather wait and see what the custom cooled ones cost after price drop.

I would have waited too, but I am returning my noisy as hell Gigabyte 7850. The fans would rattle occationally, and you could hear a Wrrrr sound when they were at 20% speed.

(this week is the last week I could have returned it.) Would have replaced, but so many other people were having problems, I am will just avoid all Gigabyte products wth fans again, thus I had to eat teh $40 restock and $10 return to newegg.)

That being said, I was hopping to get a 7950 for $400, but the prices didn't drop, so I saw a 7970 at $460 (no shipping / tax from amazon) and figured that would be better than waiting for a custom fan's price to drop.

*side note* coudl have put my old 8800 GTS in until the prices dropped, but didn't feel like switching drivers around.

Anyone know if, and when the prices will drop in australia? if it's like a day or two, I wouldn't mind waiting before i hit order from PCCG, 600 + waterblock + fittings = expensive

So just because I said "lolwut" and replaced some words in your post with a logical equivalent automatically makes me an internet tough guy who makes OCN look bad? Why are you still here anyways if this forum is full of crap?

I guess since I'm still pretty new here I'm looked down upon for having a bit of a sense of humor. Way to make this forum attractive to new members. So when YOU signed up for this forum last year were YOU an internet tough guy?

You 2 don't know what point I'm making. I didn't mean to sound like a troll. I replaced "since the release of 6990M and HD 7970" with "last year" because that's when the 6990M was released right? Somewhere in 2011? And the HD 7970 came out only about a month or so ago.

I replaced all that with "last year" to make it clear that Rayleyne has only had AMD cards since last year, as opposed to people who have used AMD for YEARS, and therefore have good credibility on AMD's drivers. Rayleyne only has a year worth's of credibility for the 6990M and the HD 7970 JUST came out.
