Sell me on a real 5.1 audio system VS a AiO kit.

So, this is for my PC, not TV. My room is decently small and I've been using Logitech X-530's since 2006. Time for an upgrade. These are nice, but out-dated. And of course, cheap.

Now, I want to replace them with this:

http://www.amazon.com/Edifier-USA-S550-Multimedia-Speaker/dp/B004EO6NHM

http://www.edifier.us.com/EdifierStore/tabid/88/ProductID/31/language/en-US/Default.aspx

A really great AiO kit someone recommended to me a long time ago. High quality, dual driver, tweeter, really powerful kit for the price and easy setup. Nice shape. Man that Center is HUGE though, it may not even fit properly on my desk in the area my current is lol, can't tell from the picture though.

Luxurious 5.1 speaker system with 10 inch subwoofer
Wooden MDF housing for all speakers
Passive radiator on both sides on the subwoofer to exaggerate bass performance
Magnetically shielded drivers for all speakers
Switchable dual input ports for both 5.1 channel and stereo inputs
Multifunctional wired controller with 2.5 inch LCD display (dimmer included)
Headphone output on wired remote controller
Master volume controls both speaker output and headphone output
Volume booster for extra power output
Separate bass and treble adjustments
Multifunctional wireless remote controller included

Granted, for a AiO kit, it's pretty expensive. But I prefer it to going with the Z-5500, after researching them...meh, the S550 are pricier, but far better.

But it's your job, OCN, to convince me to get a Receiver + all the wires + speakers I need for 600$ or less that can beat this kit. Else I'll just be getting the kit. I don't want 2.1 either, 5.1 or bust, 7.1 if you can miracle it. My room is rather small, not measured it, but def not the room where I need booming bookshelf speakers the size of a boogey board.

For $600 you can find a better setup.
Also while Edifier makes good products I'm wondering why there is a frequency gap from the front channel and the subwoofer. That is never a good thing.

You even listed all the specs and dimensions so you can see for yourself, but if spaces is a constraint then a much bigger receiver may not be optimal.

Ok, then list a real setup.

Not trying to sound snarky and I know that does, but I'd like to see, for 550$-600$, for you to make a better 5.1 setup for my PC.

Mmkay.

Not bad.

But that would not fit in my room. Not even close. Maybe for my downstairs TV, even then, those are HUUUUUUUUUUGEEEE. And also, stand out way to much, I'd prefer them to be black.

Hmm, for that price, I really like the idea of getting it for my TV downstairs which is using the OnTV Speakers. tongue.gif

Ah, just noticed no subwoofer. That's kinda a no go. tongue.gif

Okay, how about two sets of these, the center and sub.

And with the receiver that astralite posted.

Should come out to less than $600.

Newegg has a sale on the Pioneer speakers every once in a while too. The center and bookshelf pair for $50 each. Best Buy has the same speakers on sale too.

not gigantic at all. you have unrealistic expectations. the pioneers are not large for bookshelf speakers, and will be more capable than the satellites in the edifier or logitech systems.

For the size of my room, yes, they are gigantic. They'd barely fit and make the entire room bounce around.
