[swtor] bioware gives lvl 50's a free month, lapsed subscribers 7 days. - Page 7

ppl here just need to cool bit with sniping each other. Can't we all just get along. smile.gif

Anyway, since this promo is targeted for a specfic group of expereinced ppl who have ranked up, I feel that they are trying to gain back the player base . A little freebie taste doesnt hurt them, but i think it helps bring them back and reel in with newer players in the mix and let it go from there with regards to the numbers.

And I'm sure with this free month they will announce a new milestone of 3 million subscribers. If you have been on the servers you would know the majority of them are ghost towns waiting for mergers. I would not be surprised to hear they have less than 500k legitimate subscribers.

This was my main problem with the game.

Everyone criticizing me for what I said should take note.. I played with a very active group of people... But when they weren't on I had NO ONE on my server to play with which was a PvP server.

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE star wars... I am a fanatic.... KOTOR was one of my favorite games of all time. Dark Forces, Xwing vs Tie Fighter, DF2 (ranked #2 in saber dueling on cases ladder), both KOTORs. Jedi academy... I own most games with a starwars name on it.

The server pops on this game sucked after the first 2 weeks (I beta'd also) and frankly I was cancelling my account 20 days in.. Because I had no one to play with.. whats the point of a MMO if you're playing single player all the time..

Its a desperate move to inflate the sub numbers before the quarterly report... Like I said IN MANY other threads... at this point we wont know in june how the game is doing.. We'll have to wait until september now unless they pull another stunt to inflate sub numbers.

I also find it odd how Bioware/EA decided mysteriously after touting the 2 million and then 1.7 million number to stop allowing active server data to be published... Methinks they have something to hide.

Bioware has updated what you get free for 30days now.

Quote:
Hello everyone! At BioWare we're always listening to our fans and we've heard our community's comments around players with Level 50 characters being the only group awarded 30 days of play time. We appreciate the feedback and are pleased to announce that we are expanding our Legacy Promotion, also awarding 30 days of play time at no charge to players that have reached Legacy Level 6 (who may not have a 50th level character).

We just released the innovative Legacy System as part of Game Update 1.2, and felt that looking at Legacy point progression across all of your characters was a great way to reward our most avid players. This means that any of the experience you earn with any of your characters brings you closer to the goal of Legacy Level 6. The choice of how to get to Legacy Level 6 is yours.

First, you need to have passed Chapter 1 to unlock your legacy. Examples of how to get to Legacy Level 6 include:

A pair of characters Level 45 and 42
A trio of characters of Levels 45, 32 and 32
A bunch of characters Levels 35, 33, 31, 29 and 20
A single 50th level character that has enjoyed the endgame for a brief time

Remember these are just examples – you’re free to choose how to earn your Legacy experience to gain Legacy Level 6.

We've also got another significant piece of good news: everyone will have until April 22nd at noon CDT (5:00pm GMT - click here for a time zone converter) to have a Level 50 character or Legacy Level 6 on their account to get 30 days of game time on us. (Your 30 days of game time will be applied to your account on April 25th by 11:59pm CDT.) Players will now have multiple options, as well as more time, to try and reach these goals and play all the great new content in Game Update 1.2.

As always, we appreciate your feedback and will do our best to surprise and delight our customers.

Dr Greg Zeschuk
Studio GM, BioWare Austin

I'll bite on this. I stopped my account a month or so ago but I was interested in checking out this new patch anyway. Now that I can get a week free time to check it out there is no reason not to. Even if it sucks at this point all I'm trying to do is kill time before Diablo III.

yea, don't see what the big deal is. i figure this would be pretty good news for people who just had their sub lapse or were taking a break from the game.

I dropped SWTOR in Feb, logged in today to check out 1.2 since it was free and all, logged back out without even filling in my BH Powertech's forced respec. My guild dissolved, none of the 10 or so people on my friends list were logged in. Saw the same message in chat, LFM need tank for hard BT...

I'm on MMO burnout, but even after playing years of WoW, I find it more interesting to log into than SWTOR after 2 months of play.

Swutr was fun for about a month...and then with friends.
They have all abandoned, and so did I.
Lore was lame, attempt to make new players spend most of their time running around was lame, crafting was lame, PvP, was lame....need I go on?
