I guess I'll cut to the chase: are you willing to spend $200 on a 7" tablet right now?

You can't really compare 2GHz x86 vs 800MHz ARM. Even the lowly Atom would kick ARM's butt in CPU intensive tasks. As for 800MHz being enough, not if you want a good experience on stock Android. The Nook Color has a 800 MHz ARM Cortex-A8-based TI OMAP3621 CPU and it's barely usable. It's not actually the video playback that suffers since these devices have dedicated hardware video decoders. What's bad is general web browsing, menu and navigation, etc.

Bare minimum, I'd say the TouchPad's specs so that's dual-core 1.2GHz (that's the stock underclock, normal is 1.5GHz but I run mine clocked at 1.7~1.8GHz) and 1GB RAM. With CM9, the TouchPad really is a pretty great tablet. I'm one of the lucky ones that were able to get it for fire sale price. I have an iPad 3 and the only reason I use it more than the TouchPad is because of the resolution. Otherwise, I much prefer Ice Cream Sandwich (and Chrome Beta). When I get a Transformer Infinity 700t, I can see the iPad getting very little use.

Seriously, though, I think it's worth waiting even just a little bit. Nvidia has made an announcement earlier this year that around second half, it would be possible to build tablets with Tegra 3 (quad-core) for ~$200 MSRP.

I missed out the ARM part.

This was the answer I was looking for. +rep
