Hi guy's, just wondering which weldon to use, would i use weldon 16 to weld the frame together (acrylic rod) and weldon 3 for the sheets, or is weldon 3 suitable for both jobs? Pro's, cons?
Have a new Dremel on the way and hopefully wil pick up their router table accessory today with some plastic cutting bits. Will have more questions as I go along as its the first time I've worked with acylic. Have been practising on a piece of 5mm scrap and have hole's up to 25mm mastered smile.gif

Thx for the help

mmmm................Times like this I really miss Syrillian and his wonderful advice, lately it seems this is the "cable management thread"
Oh well back to trolling the search function looking for answers. Forgive my maudlin attitude, its Sunday night and I have achieved nothing, now have another week of work ahead redface.gif

Syrillian left behind so much... you just have to know where to look! I'd begin by skimming through the threads he has started. But yes, this place isn't the same without him. frown.gif

The answer to your question depends on the acrylic rods, how they will be cut, and how they will be joined. Essentially what it boils down to is how flat and how large the mating surfaces will be. Weld-On #3 is easy to apply but it doesn't fill gaps. Your surfaces have to mate nearly perfectly or the bond will break easily. I haven't used Weld-On #16 but it's supposed to be good for filling gaps. It is also supposed to be more difficult to work with. Another thing I've heard from other people is you can dissolve some scrap acrylic in a small container of #3 and it will turn into a thicker adhesive similar to #16 that should be good for filling gaps.

Also, TAP Plastics has some good information on working with acrylic and plastics in general. Check out their website when you have a chance. Good luck with your project! thumb.gif

Thx Jpz, you cant beat first hand experience, and though Im used to working with steel (Crane operator/rigger) acrylic is new and proving completely different to work with. I do search Syrillians threads for most info, but sometimes post on the spur of the moment when a thought strikes smile.gif
After posting and seeing all the cable management posts but recieving no reply I got a bit peeved (below this section there is a "component area, cable=component) as this is the case mod thread.

All good, I know OCN is catering to a wide audience, but when I post its all about me! tongue.gif My kids taught me that trait smile.gif
