In response to a certain thread (now locked), let me bring up this one that proves that 60% actually prefer 16:10

2500x1600 is more suited for 30". Even the korean models are about $1k .

I voted for 16:9 but I like 16:10 equally as much for computer monitors. Why is 4:3 even an option? Gross

I should have made multiple voting options:-(

"gross" is highly subjective adjective. Is iPad gross? Given two screens with the same diagonal 4:3 has 6% more area than 16:10 which in turn has 6% more area than 16:9. Human vision is close to 4:3. Gaming&Movies is all about virtual reality, that is having your entire field of view covered; thus the display which conforms to your vision makes the most sense.

I just hope this doesn't turn into a trolling "best" aspect ratio thread like that one guy that keeps on making the same thread.

2560x1600 monitors in Korea cost several hundred dollars more than their x1440 counterparts.
Once shipping has been factored in, they cost the same as a Dell or HP you can buy domestically with a solid warranty.

You got me with the iPad statement, mine is sitting right next to me and it's great with the super high resolution display. But it's not a TV nor a computer so I would include it in a different category all together.

Including your peripheral vision, it's more of a widescreen aspect ratio as opposed to 4:3.

human vision is 4:3?

i ran ghetto test

extended my arms to left & right. can easily see both hands.

extended my arms 1 up and 1 down. can barely see my elbows.

i think we see more widescreen.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field_of_view

says horizontal FOV is almost 180 degrees. Then they claim 100 degrees vertical which looks dubious. They linked to

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_eye#Field_of_view

which asserts "The approximate field of view of a human eye is 95° out, 75° down, 60° in, 60° up"

Therefore vertical FOV is 75+60 = 135. 180:135 is close to 4:3.

Maybe they are talking about a single eye?
Our eyes are horizontal from one another, not vertical.

Edit: nevermind i make no sense.
