AMD 5670 Crossfire Question

Thread Starter
Hi OC,

I've got a ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131402) that has "PCI Express 2.0 x16 2 (one x16 or dual x8 link)" and

was wondering if I could have two XFX HD-567X-ZNF3 Radeon HD 5670 1GB 128-bit (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150467) crossfired? Or should I just go for an upgrade

graphics card, such as GeForce GTX 560.

Thanks,
Kevin/hXrsmurf

That's a mid-level card that's a few generations old. I certainly don't mean to bash you, but I would see about selling it off and upgrading. What is your budget ? What games do you play and at what resolution ?

Not worth crossfiring a low-end card like that.

You'd be much better off getting a single midrange card like a GTX 560

Absolutely agree. You could pick up a used gtx 460 for 90$ I would think and you'd see a huge performance increase. If you can stretch your budget to about the 200$ range a 6950 2gb or 560ti 2gb would be an excellent buy in my mind. Lots of bang for buck there.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I was sort of suspecting I might as well save up and buy a better card and sell the 5670 or something. Thanks a lot!

5670 would make someone a solid htpc card. It looks like they're going for about 65$ bnib. Try and sell it locally for 45-50$ and grab yourself a nice upgrade. Good Luck ! thumb.gif
