Best Drivers 6870 CF BF3

Thread Starter
The other night while playing BF3 I had a BSOD (first in over a year on current set up)
Checked the BSOD and it seemed to point towards my GPU drivers which were up to date.

Now since 11.11c I've just being updating over the old drivers.

So I uninstalled the current drivers, booted into safe mode and cleared with driver sweeper.
Then rebooted and reinstalled the current ones with the cap. Bad performance
Done the same again and installed the beta drivers. Bad performance

When I say bad performance I mean 40 to 70fps,average about 50fps.
Now I used to get alot higher than that the last time i checked a few months ago.
Overclocked I can get a boost of about 10-15 fps on average.

I know I tried it once with settings on ultra except meshes on high and I was getting 40-60fps,40 being the average but went back to high as it seemed smoother.

Settings now are
All High @1920x1080 except Blur off,AA off and post AA on high

So now I'm trying to find the current best performance drivers and cap

Any help?

12.4 beta drivers worked best for my 6850cf. I am getting avg 65 fps on ultra 1080p

12.4 beta drivers here as well, Get 120ish fps on ultra 4X AA at 1080 on metro.
Have to drop down to 2X AA on other maps to stay around 100fps.
And in 3D have to use 0X AA just to stay above 60fps.
Cards are overclocked to 1008mhz/1140mhz.

Latest patch for BF3 seems to have a bug where its eating more Vram now and with the limited 1GB on these cards its dropped the frame rate 30-40fps from where it use to be.

Also the 12.4 beta driver and caused a bug with firefox for me, Some times it will micro pause then its like it quickly gets minimized and maximized again. Only started happening when I got 12.4.

Check out this site for some great benchmarks of the beta drivers.

I've had good luck with the 8.96 beta drivers, which seem to show less lack of vram symptoms, although there is an annoying bug where the second card runs at max clocks until you run a 3D app.

You might want to experiment with the frame limiter option in the BF3 console (press [~], then enter: gametime.maxvariablefps 55) with vsync off to see if it helps smooth out your frame rates. It also allows your cards to work less and cool down more, resulting in less BSODs.
