These fellow members have gave all you need, use it.

If you still can't figure it out, then you should not be overclocking your gpu.

Goodluck.

I dislike using xcl method but there's an easier way of enabling xcl, especially for crossfire setups cuz xcl will not edit the registry for cards not connected to a display. Also, as much as Alexey would say otherwise, I've found that 12.3+ drivers still need those missing files for xcl.

This.
In CF /xcl make's my computer freeze everytime i change a setting on the graphic cards.

Best luck i had in single and CF is with Asus GPU Tweak.
In Asus GPU tweak go to Settings >>> Tuning >>> and set "Overclocking range enhancement" and click apply.
In CF it still didnt do the second card but it opened up higher clocks in catalyst OD so i could do it there.
I had the set the first card through Asus GPU Tweak and the second card in Catalyst OD.
Wierd, but its the only thing that works without bugs for me. [even without the "missing" .dll files]

but the OP have a single 7970 so the -xcl command is the easiest way to unlock beyond 1200 or by flashing to asus bios.i dont knwo about cf setups but in my single 7970 works fine biggrin.gif

I have had a single 7970 for a while to.
single and CF 7850.

Think the whole 7xxx series works a bit the same with overclocking.

With a single card /xcl opened up higher clocks in MSI AB but couldnt get any voltage control. For the rest it worked fine.
With a single card Asus GPU Tweak opened up higher clocks and voltage controll [not much with a 7850 though]

In CF MSI AB make's my computer freeze up.
In CF Asus GPU Tweak runs fine but i need to set second card in Catalyst for it to be overclocked to.

i had the same thing with the voltage control but i think i reinstall ab and it worked after i reindo the whole thing.but overall the asus bios is the best solution because my sapphire firmware i need around 1.85 v for 1200/1600 and with asus bios i am even stable at 1225/1645 at 1.74

^^Those are some big typos on the voltages lol.

Anyways, all methods require the missing clock control dll files. XCL is annoying because you're dealing with AB's interface with AMD's powersave tech flipping clocks around all willy nilly. **Back in the olde days with Cayman, we could edit the bios and control 100% all the powerstates with voltge, but it's pipe dream now with Baggz dropping RBE dev**

As for UOM, gputweak/trixx/ab they're all the same though each have their own pluses and minuses. Between the three I'm ok with AB the most even though it's still buggy. This coming from THE #1 Afterburner hater lol. Waves to Unwinder. thumb.gif

yeap a bit late here i meant 1,184 and 1,174 lol.blame my location.coming from 3d guru forum i think that the asus gpu tweak was the best solution i think.yeap xcl is annoying with the 12.3 because of the locking clocks.having dual monitor my memory is 24.7 clocked 3d mode so didint want to broke my underclock 2d profile so i rolled back to 12.2.never really find the time to change back to 12.3 and unlock with the asus gpu tweak or the registry thing
