Disabling RDC?

Thread Starter
I'm looking at the features on my PC and I was wondering what RDC is?

I have been very curious lately about services and whatnot on my PC as I have been heavily considering purchasing a home server and applying GPOs.

What exactly is RDC (Remote Differential Compression) and what purpose does it serve? I have seen numerous users insisting that it be disabled, and I have also seen many say that it's a fantastic a feature and should be left on - especially if the environment uses any servers beyond the 2003 era (2008 etc.) with users who have PCs running an OS beyond XP (Vista, 7, etc.).

Does anyone have any advice on whether or not I should leave this on both for workstations and servers, or whether I should just remove it entirely?

Microsoft's description just confuses me...so I found this: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/81176-speed-up-performance-vista.html

Help!

It's Remote Desktop Connection

It's more or less microsoft own VNC. You can disable it everywhere

I think you have it confused with RDP. RDP is Remote Desktop Protocol.

RDC is Remote Differential Compression API Support. "Installs Remote Differential Compression (RDC) support for use in third-party applications.

Anyone know?
