Good first overclock for I-7 2600k?

Thread Starter
Today I Manually overclocked for the first time, in the past I just used my motherboards simple overclocking utilities. Im running an I-7 2600k on an MSI Z68A-GD80 board with a Corsair H100 cooler.

My Processor is running 4.7 ghz with a v-core of 1.38 idle at 32-36 Celsius and using prime95 under 100% loads for 5 minutes my hottest core was 69 and my coolest was 63 celsius

Question is, good first overclock? could it be better? Any tips? thoughts?

I think you should be priming for a little bit longer then 5 minutes. When I was doing my 24 hr stable run I didn't see max temps until maybe 2 hours in where they capped at 66. I'm jealous if you are getting 4.7@ 1.38. I'm having to run 1.392 idle 1.368 load for 4.5

How many hours have you run prime to check for stablity? If you run 10 minute FFTs on custom setting you should be able to go through all the Prime FFT's in maybe 12 hours or so. On a couple of runs, I didn't fail until 8-9 hours on. One was at hour 14. Needless to say, I woke up very pissed.

yeah I plan on doing a longer test when I go to sleep. I just did a quick test to see what the initial load temps were because I needed to use my pc biggrin.gif

Hopefully the temps wont go too much higher
