Can you have 2 SSDs in Raid 0 and also have a 500GB HDD Not in raid ?

Hello OCN,
I recently bought a 60GB OCZ Agility 3 and im planning to buy another one to put them in raid 0. Before i got the SSD, i used a 500GB HDD as a boot drive. But what i want to do right now is to put the two SSDs in raid 0 and still have the 500GB HDD as storage, is that possible ?
Thanks

Yep smile.gif

Just don't include the 500GB in the RAID array.

yes just dont inlude it in the array. Just install windows on the ssd'd in raid then bung the hdd in...

you will lose a lot of speed in a lot of things, boot time being the main one, as the bios will initialise the array, before windows boots, virus scans also take a lot longer in raid, my advice dont bother with raid!

in theory it suppose to give you 2 x performance increase but other factors come into play as moonmanas mentioned.. but one advantage is you will get a performance increase in most i/o operations approx double the usable space. one thing to note if you go this way you a 2 points of possible faliure, if either drive fails it you will lose everything so you must back the array up.. IMO its better to just get a nice larger SSD smile.gif
