Memory Upgrade

Thread Starter
This is for my H2 Classic rig in my Sig/profile.

Currently I've got 12 gb of OCZ Gold (6 x 2 mb) in the typical X58 mono setup. I think I've got a bad stick somewhere because I get a few errors on memtest if I try running at the factory 1600 settings. Going to do a stick by stick check at factory settings. Anyway....

I'm trying to squeak as much performance out of the box as I can. New Egg is running a 15% promo on the 8gb kits of 2133 G.Skill Sniper memory. I'm thinking of grabbing it because I could run 3 sticks on one of the channels and simplify things while running a higher frequency with my CPU/Feb overclock. My flipside thought is that I've got faster memory for when I do an upgrade to Ivy bridge or next in line.

Do you way more knowledgable than me types think this would benefit me at all?

There's not much point to getting memory faster than 1600MHz Cas 9 for Intel platforms, unless you're benchmarking all the time. Otherwise I think it's a pretty good idea.

Also, I think you should put your computer information in your signature. tongue.gif

Well, I'd mainly be doing because my OCZ Gold is starting to give me fits with the OC I'm at. I'll probably take the plunge anyway, I got an order tonight at my little side biz I run, and that might be a sign to make the order, lol.

*edit* Hey look what I figured out. Way too used to a normal vbulletin layout.
