Xinerama not working properly

Thread Starter
Hey everyone,

I've just reinstalled Linux (based on Ubuntu 11.10 with XFCE) due to a power outage whilst doing an upgrade (annoying enough as it is) but now i can't get my monitors to work correctly.

I've got a 17" acer which is on the GTX260, it's primary whilst booting up then the HP takes over with the GTX580.

The problem I'm having is the Acer keeps mirroring the HP and I want it to be it's own screen. It's doing an exact mirror so i can only see about half of the screen on it.

I've tried setting twinview to 0 on both screens in my xorg.conf but it still does the same thing.

The additional drivers program (jockey-gtk) says that the driver is activated but not in use but I'm pretty sure I installed them. And lshw says the Nvidia driver is being used for them.

Any help would be great.

Since you're using Ubuntu and most likely the proprietary drivers and not the open source Nouveau drivers. Run sudo nvidia-settings and configure it there, makes it easier than hand configuring the xorg file. Should be pretty straight forward for you then, and it configures the xorg file as it needs to be.

Sorry forgot to mention I've already tried doing it through nvidia settings, no luck frown.gif
