Biostar 890FX NB Overclock

Thread Starter
I made a comment a while back about a similar issue I was having with the Biostar 890FX boards. For some reason their is both a VID and Overvolt section in the BIOS.

So am I suppose to change the NB VID, NB Overvolt, or CPU-NB in the BIOS. If I change the NB VID it keeps the Voltage @ 1.1v, so I don't think that's the right one to change. -_- they need to do a BIOS update and fix this stuff, make it simpler like ASUS. frown.gif I miss my ASUS board, this board overclocks better, but the BIOS are so difficult.

FID/VID:

450

Overvolt:

450

So If I raise my NB to 2800MHz, do I raise to CPU-NB or NB Voltage? I have read a thousand threads, and I do understand that the CPU-NB is for the NB, and the NB Voltage is for the IMC, but do I ever need to raise the NB voltage, if the CPU-NB voltage is for the NB?

The northbridge is the integrated chipset on the motherboard, you only change this to try and get higher FSB clocks...

The cpu-nb is the cache and memory controller, and this is what you change to raise the frequency of the "northbridge" You think they could have came up with another name....

So to answer your question you need to raise the CPU-NB voltage to increase the northbridge operating frequency.

@__@ I understand now... So confusing, they should have came up with some new fancy AMD name, like all the other things they come out with. Thanks +1 Rep <3

Scratch that! I don't understand lol.... my CPU-NB is 1.55v right now, but the NB voltage is still 1.1v, since my max is 1.55v that means the voltage is the highest, and I can just OC the NB, and try to get it stable?
