Worth waiting for non-reference GTX680?

Thread Starter
Question in the title, I have been waiting since release so far and just wondering if its really worth it (getting a real hankering to jump back to the green side).

Also anyone got any idea when we will start seeing non-reference cards?

Recently tried to buy a gigabyte windforce card at a retailer but they then told me they didn't have any and didn't know when they would.

single card? then ya, why not wait a little bit longer this way you can have better temps. If you ever plan on going sli though, then a reference card would probably be best since it will blow the air directly out the case.

Yeah single card, not messing around with SLI. I know that non-reference are better and cooler in general, my real question is how long do I have to wait? ;P

Thanks for your input.

If you aren't going to watercool, I would wait just due to the fact that we aren't sure what they're going to do about the voltage regulation on some of the non-ref 680 cards--if they extend the voltage that will be quite the treat. I think you'd be happy either way, though. But it may be worth the wait. I am happy with ref 680, and I came from crossfire 7970s.

Tons of non-ref card has already been announced a week after the release, unlike the 7970 which was really around a month or two later.

The 680s been released for about 3 weeks already, so "soon" is really all anyone can provide since theres no set release date for any of those announced cards. Just a hang on a little longer and you can have 680 DC2s or lightnings smile.gif
