Evga SR-X builds?

Ok I have been waiting for reviewer an videos on the SR-X setup. Thing is I haven't seen any. I know when the sr2 came out they were all over. Is this new 2011 dual cpu setup not worth it I guess? What is your guys input? Figured kingpin an Evga would have ln2 benchmarks with 680s on this bad boy by now.

you can not overclock as much as you want with this board about 500mhz more than stock

So the SR-X is a complete junk setup. What good is a supposed super record setup if it can't overclock.

Intel hasn't released any unlocked Xeons yet.

Debateable, EVGA chose to use a server socket knowing server chips aren't big overclockers and I would hardly 'blame' Intel for not making their chips OC well when their primary use is for running servers and not gaming rigs and benchmarking PCs.

Asus alos have a dual socket board coming (Z9PE-D8-WS) which uses teh standard LGA 2011 socket but it will require a "2P" enabled chip, how overclockable they'll be I don't know.

and exactly what non-server chips are 2P compatible? Oh wait, it's just Xeons. tongue.gif

The EVGA SR-X motherboard is slotted to release in 10-11 days, since some of the higher end xenon cpu's aren't all too available yet less overclocking / 6 core power is even available to use with massive dual cpu boards like the SR-X. This is the only true SR-X build I have seen on the internet. This one is by motherboards.org.

Hope we see more of these with actual high powered Xenon CPU's!

thanks for the vid ... very cool, I was wondering when this thing will be commercially available.

so it may be very early, but it looks like this might be a big disappointment. is there a link or anything breaking down the chips and their prices / OC capabilities (or total lack thereof). Or anyone know for sure yet?

I'd almost rather pick up a used SR-2 setup on the cheap and run with that ... how would a good OC SR-2 compare to a stock SR-X?
