Wireless Remote Desktop to TV

So I might be crazy but I swear I have seen this done I just don't know how to get a hold of the guy that did it.

Essentially he hooked his TV up through some wireless device I don't know the name of and could display a clone of his PC in one room the TV 2 rooms away and it worked amazingly streaming HD videos and even playing Team Fortress 2 with the wireless keyboard and mouse he brought out of the other room.

Assuming that made sense (I'm terribly frustrated at the moment so forgive me if it didn't) has anyone seen this heard of this or know how to accomplish it?

He was not a rich man and I feel it's safe to assume he accomplished this for $200 or less and that was 3 years ago.

Any help or even a "lol just buy a long hdmi cable" will do...I just gota ask somewhere and I have lurked around here for awhile and you guys know your stuff.

You'll likely get less latency with a long hdmi cable. Not sure how good this is:

Actually that's not bad if there wasn't a wall between the computer and the tv it would do the trick
