So many negative comments and posts about corsair coolers it makes me think someones getting paid to endorse d14s and SAs. The adivice I keep seeing on here is almost anger like on anything thats not air or "real" water cooling, except the one that said the CM water cooler is gonna blow away the H100. I would just like to see some unbiased non angry opinions on why air is so much better than these "fake" clc's.
I've had a h50 for 2 years in 3 machines and an H80 in this one for the past year. No leaks and it cools my 4.0g 1090t 28c idle at 22c ambient
It would just be nice to not see so many "fanboys" or haters give their (bashing) for recomendations for a 1 to 2 degree difference on a cooler. If that 1 degree is stopping you from hitting 5.0g on your athlon x2, you should be looking for somthing far beyond a 100 buck clc or air cooler.

high end heatpipe based coolers are not "so much better", they just have the better performance/price ratio and the better performance/noise ratio. For good results with a CLC you need intake fans, too. wich f's up the airflow in many cases. Plus you have the pump wich is basically another unnecessary wearing part.
But if you dont care much about those negatives and value the aestethics and the space around the socket higher than they are no bad choice at all.

It isn't that we are against people buying CLCs, we are pointing out that for most people a CLC does not have any technical merit (upside), that would justify paying more and getting less plus the leak liability you never have with a HSF.
By presenting objective scientific test data, people can make an informed buying decision and they won't get frustrating surprises when their H-series cooler runs hotter than a highend HSF.

not that loud to me, being deaf in one ear, which happens to be on the same side as my case, i guess makes it alot quiter than what your telling me it is. thumb.gif
never had a leak, not worried about a leak, if it does then i might consider an air cooler, but for right now im happy with my 28c idle and havent seen one reason to justify spending 75 to 100 for an air cooler to replace this non effiecient noisy leaker.

OP, before you buy anything you might want to use one evening to bench/stress the computer with outside air, and see if the super low temps can either improve the OC or at least allow a lower voltage.

If not then forget it.
