Samsung Ram OC with 890FX :P

Thread Starter
I have never overclocked ram before, so this is a first. My BIOS don't give me a real time update of when I OC the Ram with FSB, so if I OC the ram how far do I need to raise the FSB to get 1866 if I am currently @ 1866MHz? Half of 1866MHz is 933MHz, so how much do I need to raise my FSB to get 933MHz from 800MHz?

I am OCing at the moment, so immediate help would be really appreciated. Also, do I need to raise my NB, or just my CPU-NB, to get a stable ram OC?

*EDIT* Also, I hear that I can get a 1T OC? How do I do that? I currently at a 2T.

What motherboard do you have? And for 1866 mhz you would need FSB of 233.

It is not necessary to raise the CPU NB, but you will get the most performance gain out of it.

The 1T/2T thing is motherboard dependent, keep it at 2T while overclocking, and if your ram is stable try 1T, if its not stable dont worry, put it back to 2t. its not that important

233 FSB

Don't touch NB voltage, you may need to adjust CPU-NB voltage slightly (CPU-NB is applied to the CPU's memory controller and L3 cache, NB is applied directly to the NB and doesn't do much if anything for RAM). With a C2 processor you will probably have to raise it because their memory controllers aren't that great especially when compared to C3 Deneb or Thubans.

Simply change the command rate from 2T to 1T in the bios, it should be under the RAM settings. Sometimes it might say 2N and 1N, it's the same thing. Also don't bump your thread so fast. When you do then it will be outside of unanswered threads and you may get less exposure.

Do I need to down clock my ram? I have it at 1600MHz at the moment.. (half of that is 800), or do I need to set it down to 800MHz. I am going to try 8-8-8 timings also, cause most people who bought this ram claimed that it can do 1866MHz @ a Cas 8 easy.

Thanks, BROHOOF! /)

I set NB voltage to 1.26
NB 1.8 to 1.85
(I point a fan at the sinks)
Settings are pretty self-explanatory in pics biggrin.gif

I think with a Deneb..You should keep around 1600-ish
edit:Especially with a c2
